Hi Fishes,
I recently got an offer for Cyber security advisory at PwC India . They gave a 20% hike on the current amount. Thing is that l, the technical interview told me that it is not a software/coding type of position and asked me multiple times if I was interested to do that. Is that a red flag?

Oh, actually I have always liked the idea of working at a small bookstore or even Barnes and noble but there are not any of those around me. I also might not mind working for a small coffee, not a Starbucks or anything like that. But just a small quiet little coffee shop you see in hallmark movies haha but we do not have any of those around either.

I think I’d love to try out a more boutique style or smaller luxury store. They tend to have a smaller footprint and a lot less inventory than I’m used to. I’m certain they have their own struggles, but merchandise wise, I think it would be a good break.

I thought I wanted to work at Starbucks bc I love coffee and I wanted the benefits they offer part time employees, plus the education benefits. But something came up in my interview at one of the locations and it was very eye-opening to me: the manager said that the role is a little different than other retail jobs because you are actually making the product, in real time, for the customer.
So I had experience working in clothing retail, but I didn’t make the clothes. So there’s an added layer of stress in making sure the customer is happy. Her comment was very eye-opening to me. I went home and made the decision to not take the job. (Plus that location was particularly dirty with a sticky floor and just yuck, lol- so I really didn’t want to work there!)
I enjoyed working in clothing retail- I was at Anthropologie for about 5 years. I definitely wouldn’t want to work anywhere that stays open until 10pm or later.
I have always worked at big retail stores but I always kind of wanted to work for a smaller boutique. I just feel like dealing with a different crowd of people would be really nice and probalby less work spent cleaning up the store at the end of the night.
