Hi there. Ex Deloitte Sr Mgr here, currently in tech pre sales (SaaS / MarTech). Recently spoke to both Salesforce and Adobe recruiters for roles that I thought were lateral moves (Sr SA / Sr SC), therefore I did not proceed with the selection process. The recruiters from both companies told me they typically hire at that level, and people are considered for promotion to Principal in 1 to 2 years. I found that odd. Is that right? What’s the typical TC for SAs and SCs there? (15+ yrs exp).

BI dev the same as Data eng no?
If ur managing the data ingest and doing a lot of custom stuff for every source, id shoot for the 🌖
I mean we can tell u 180 - 220K, but tbh if u went to a company and asked for 350K and they laugh at u…
Just laugh with them and pivot the convo and admit u don’t know what ur worth -> but tell them ur excited for the role and ask them what their range is.
This is a contrarian move but asking for more doesn’t make u look bad. Ur not interviewing for a leadership position. So it’s ok to optically “look bad” at negotiating a range but excited for the role.
Canadian salaries are very low compared to US salaries.
I would ask for no less than 180k for that role but like the person above said that is what I would ask for in the states. Canadian salaries do tend to be lower but it doesn't hurt to ask.
