Hi All, My sister has done Computer Science engineering Bachelor degree and has 5 years of work experience in India. She is applying for MBA at https://www.kenan-flagler.unc.edu/programs/mba/full-time-mba/ and https://kelley.iu.edu/programs/full-time-mba/academics/majors-minors/marketing.html. Her overall goal is to get into Software Product management. Any suggestions if any of these MBA’s can open path in the desired space or if she is better of doing an MS in Comp engg. to further develop deeper Technology skills. Thanks

^100% value add right there
It’s better to find out the roles and responsibilities than go just by job title when making comparisons because so many companies have different nomenclature.
Being lazy. Designations are org specific or industry specific. For example, I know a director who joined as specialist master (manager) in Deloitte from a large organization. When you reach that level in Industry, you either come at M or SM level depending upon any prior client service experiences. There are orgs that assign Director or VP level for PM level equivalent folks. They may be considered down for SC too.
VP
No value add here bcg1. But am hoping there will be someone who will add value by relating his experiences unlike the 3 of us. OP atleast has a good question
I'm guessing from your title that you're Accenture Strategy. In that case, I'd say 4th year consultant to manager is the equivalent of director with a small to medium team in industry. Industry directors with large teams are more like experienced manager or new SM. SMs are usually VP to SVP and MDs are SVP to C suite.
I dont think banking VPs equate to SMs.
Banking (investment / big). ASC=ASC. VP=M. D=SM. MD=PPMD
Banking (regional)/much of industry: M=ASC D=M/SM. VP=M/SM (more senior, but often a lot of stretch/title inflation). SVP=SM/PPMD (but watch out for title inflation; some orgs have endless SVP)
