I know Liver King is out there but my roommate has been living by his “9 ancestral tenets” and it basically changed his life. Anyone else that follows something similar seen benefits? Just from reading the names: same seat, different T&Cs w/r/t flight changes
Flexible usually means a more expensive fare but ability to make changes without a change fee. Read the fare rules to be certain. You generally don’t need a fare that allows changes without fee unless there is a reasonable certainty that you will need to make flight changes.

Flexible Fare
This fare type is available for Main Cabin and premium economy, business, and first class.
If you think you might need to change your flight for any reason then it may be worth considering this Flexible fare, which allows you to change your flight without incurring a service fee (although the difference in fare would still apply).
Both will get rescheduled given its American
