So about 20% of gross income is spent on the card, not sure what your net income is but if this includes most or all essentials, I’d say it’s no big deal. You’re getting those points and cash back, and the card is paid off each month, so I don’t see any harm here.
Only 4K a month on 240k of income? I would say you’re doing great 😂. Calculate how much you’re saving on average a month. Include 401(k) and matching contributions, etc. in your savings then divide by pre-tax income. Think they say to save 10-15% for retirement but yours will likely be higher (and I personally recommend saving more than that). I also assume you’re putting the majority of your expenses on CC. Gotta rack up those free points.
Yes, absolutely all expenses except mortgage.
2 adults, 200k, around ~2k a month (a little less during pandemic).
Not commuting, vacationing, or eating out as much has definitely helped us out a lot!!! Probably will go up a good bit when this is all over cause we will want to do everything lol
I guess I don't follow why it matters what other people do with their money, or what they make in comparison? Maybe some months you need to spend 5k does that make you "outside the norm" and heaven forbid, we have our OWN minds, our OWN thoughts, our OWN path....

Check out the citi double cash card, it’s 2% on everything. That extra 0.5% does help!
That’s a good tip! I have the Freedom card from when I was younger. When I opened the Sapphire card, I decided to keep it because I can transfer my Freedom points to Sapphire. Sapphire is incredible by the way. Even on a year that we haven’t traveled much, it has given us so much money back!
I do the same thing with Chase Sapphire and Unlimited and transfer points, but I also use AMEX blue cash for groceries b/c it has 6% cashback, including Instacart. I’ve earned some good rewards on it this year 🙏 we are spending total around $2.5k a month with another $2.5k for mortgage. Before we had combined income of $150k but my husband lost his job due to covid and is still looking - we reduced spending by just a bit but now we basically break even with my income so I’m not saving any money at the moment

We are just starting our forever home tho so lots of projects and stuff. Money sure is tight these days
Yeah, we don’t have kids but really want them! I think it’ll change our priorities a lot
I use my credit card to pay most bills but pay in full each month. Are you saying you have a $4000 minimum payment? Or that you spend $4000 a month and pay in full?
Yes, that’s what I was asking. Thanks!

If you can’t pay 100% of the balance when due, you’re overspending your income
Yeah, just feel like I’ve lived with so much less. It’s more like: am I saving and investing enough?
