Following - I’m currently taking the eCornell diversity and inclusion for HR and enjoying it

Sorry for the delay! Yes!!

I really enjoy it and find it enlightening inside and outside of work.

It’s very thoughtful, thorough and engaging. I should be done next month and don’t regret it at all!

I previewed most of the LinkedIn Learning content for our organizations Foundational Learning. It is well done, informative and received wrest reviews from staff. I cut the content down to 30 min segments by eliminating anything that was HR to focused, so we could use it for all staff training.

While submitting a salary counter on a role I was offered, I listed valid points on why I deserved a higher sum for the responsibilities. Recruiter brought up my diversity being a key negotiator and awkwardly asked me “what are you” since the person making financial decisions will “want to know.” I am a “racially ambiguous” POC and while I answered in order to save face, this made me extremely uncomfortable. I accepted the job but can’t shake how inappropriate and dehumanizing this felt.

Thoughts on addressing emails as "Hi guys" or "Hi ladies" if you are of the same gender as those you are addressing? To me (as a woman) being addressed as "Hi ladies" seems more personal than something like "Hi Team", but I can understand if others may feel uncomfortable with it (i.e. if they don't like being called out as a man/woman, since gender is a more sensitive topic in general, etc)

All these posts in this bowl complaining about POCs, women, and diversity hires. Continue the rending of garments, weeping, and gnashing of teeth. Don’t let me interrupt. Lol!

I was molested by a girl. I told this to a couple of friends and I became a subject of mockery - "You aren't man enough", "Damn a girl came onto you? Lucky", "I don't believe you - that girl's way out of your league"

Is molestation gender specific?

PS - not related to ZS. Just an incident that happened some years ago in college, but still haunts me probably because I could never speak up. I was judged/hushed whenever I tried.

Does being a certain demographic increase your chances of being accepted into Law school?
I was looking at the statistics on certain schools on their reported demographics and noticed not many hispanic males apply. For example, NIU only had two Hispanic males apply in the last application cycle.
Is this a feature I can use to my advantage when applying? Not entirely relying on my race to carry me. Just curious on how much weight diversity holds when applying.

So I recently started a position with Fox. When it was presented to me in interview, I was told I would be working aligned with Fox Sports & Entertainment, not so much News. Now that I’m here, I’m seeing everything I’ll be doing is with the News team & makes me uncomfortable. No diversity, outdated software & process.
Financially, it’s the best position I been in. But mentally in this environment, it’s depressing & slow. Nothing innovative or engaging. What would you do?

I'm a 4th yr. Spent first 3 yrs in ID and past 1yr in general corporate litigation. I have a little L&E experience, but not much. Would I have any shot at getting in at one of the big 4? Or should I focus on getting in at a more local/smaller L&E firm to get my feet wet. Ultimate goal is to get enough L&E experience to go in-house. TIA.

We are exploring having a third party come in and assess our I&D efforts across our company. We have many locations across North America. Is anyone aware of an entity who does this? We have found questionnaires through target organizations and have done anonymous employee surveys but are hoping to find someone who can do an assessment for gender, minorities, disabilities, 2SLGBTQ+, etc. and provide feedback on the actual employee experience and where we may have blind spots.
