When does having kids get easier? Have a newborn so now have 2 under 3, and wondering if there is a light at the end of the tunnel, also how do you manage to get any work done when you’re home? Any tips or perspectives?

I'm in the same boat pal. It's tough being focused on your career with toddlers. I have to thank my wife for her incredible sacrifice and always putting our children first. She's been a cornerstone

Aw man, you're in for a treat. Just wait till they can talk back to you! But seriously, it gets easier around their grade school years when they can get ready themselves.

For me, got easier at 3.5 years old. As for working when home, cannot recommend keeping the kids at home at the same time. Day care and preschool for sure. And the kids seem to love it.

In the same position, with another on the way. These seem like really challenging years, but also incredibly joyful & rewarding (though not usually in balance in the moment). I try to remember that years 0-5 are absolutely critical to a child’s growth and development. Something that might feel in the moment like a sacrifice is really investment. Best of luck to you and your fam!

It gets better as they learn to talk - then at least you know what's up

My kids are 4 and almost 3. I try to hold them and play with them as much as I can whenever I get downtime because i know that one day soon they're not gonna want me to pick them up anymore and it breaks my heart

Also i get my work done when they're asleep and I haven't slept in 4 years.

I have 5/3/1 in preK/daycare/nanny at home. Get help and pay for it if you can. Show your kids on video calls occasionally so you get empathy and flexibility. Get a few sets of good quality Bluetooth headsets for calls from home or with the stroller. I used to work in the middle of the night and little bits during the day to get my work done.

never going to get easier.. I have 5 kids under 12yrs..

Get help..babysitter
Buy a freezer and prep meals and package the meals away..makes meals simple
Use disposable utensil
don't take yourself too seriously
Utilize your vacation days
You aren't the only one.. All parents dealing with this..

You gon be aight...

My family mistreated me when I was younger, and now that I don’t live at home, they don’t call or bother to look for me, because frankly, I think they have a hard time admitting what happened - and will never apologize to me either. If I don’t call, or occasionally go see them during the holidays, we would never talk. Some of them are growing old (health-wise), and I’m scared this entire situation is just irreparable. Has anyone ever gone through anything similar? Any advice or thoughts?

I don’t want to stop living a double life. I’m a 29yo bi guy living in a liberal city and I’ve dated a guy(29m) for 5 years. I fly back to my conservative small town and pretend I’m straight for my parents (and extended family) because I don’t want to disappoint them or cause them any pain. I love them and I love my bf, and I want to keep both aspects of my life as they are today. My bf wants to meet my parents but I really don’t want to bring that drama into my life

A relative is raising a teenage son with her ex-husband. They have joint physical custody. The ex-husband has re-married. When the son is in his care, he often leaves the son at home in California with his (new) wife when he travels for work (which is often). The relative wants her ex-husband to leave their son in her care when he travels out of town but the ex-husband disagrees. The relative wants to know her chances of prevailing if she were to appear in court on this issue. Thoughts? Thanks!

Comforting others:
When someone tells me bad news regarding their health, I say everything I am supposed to say (I’m sorry to hear that, I’m here for you, etc) EXCEPT “everything is going to be ok”. Because I can’t guarantee that and I really don’t know if everything is going to be ok. I was taken aback recently when a friend told me I am calloused and cold-hearted for not being able to say those words. Is she right? Should I start saying this for the purposes of providing comfort only??

How do you handle people’s kids showing up on video meetings? Screaming, kicking, hamming it up, (wasting time.) Everyone else is coo-ing…I’m not a kids person. Heard a technique which is to drop off the call bc you “assume the call is over” (which seems like a great way to get fired especially if it’s a way higher up’s kids - plus it feels rather passive aggressive.) Thoughts?

It’s been 3 years since I (27F) moved to Seattle and still don’t have a solid social circle. Not necessarily a big group… I’m talking 3-4 friends who are easy going and not flakey/ hard to make plans with.

Idk if it’s due to Covid, Seattle freeze, a combination of the two or other factors. Any transplants out there who are NOT the outdoorsy type and feel the same? And if so, how did you get past it?

We’ve been attending a church for about 6 months now and trying to decide if it’s our church home. The only reason I’m hesitant is because people don’t seem to engage with us as much as I expected. For example, I told the pastors wife about a serious diagnosis we recently received and she did pray for us on the spot, but no one has reached out to us at all to check in. Am I expecting too much?

CFP study programs:

I'm a little confused on Danko - does he offer a self-study option for the coursework requirement? On his website it looks like each module has a 4-day virtual class which I wouldn't be able to attend due to working full time. Does this program also include self-study material, and the classes are just supplementary/optional? I was also looking at Dalton for self-study and Danko for test prep. Thoughts?
