Which big law firms give billable credit for hours spent on diversity and inclusion efforts? And how many hours go towards billable targets?

Sidley - 25 minimum 50 maximum.

like

Ropes does (not sure the amount). Gives unlimited credit for pro bono as well.

like

Latham - 50 hrs

like

True as that may be, at the end of the day DEI is not technically credited the same. Which is a bummer bc POC are often the ones doing the bulk of this work for affinity groups, recruiting, etc.

like

Cooley - 50 hours

like

Faegre - 50 hours.

Eversheds Sutherland - 50 for DEI hrs and unlimited credit for pro bono

Reed Smith - 50 hrs

A&P. I forget how many hours.

Dorsey & Whitney - 50 hours

Akin 100 hours in total between DEI, recruiting, etc. Unlimited for pro bono.

Dechert - 50 but that’s combined with recruiting and nonbillable article writing (like client alerts and treatises)

Covington is 50. I’ve heard getting them to agree to it was like pulling teeth.

Stroock - 50 hours

I’ve been a freelance print production designer for many years, and usually on-site in the before times. Now I work remote, and am finding it uneasy dealing with billing. Before I always billed hourly, which made sense, but it’s becoming an issue now. Some companies don’t have a full days’ work, so it seems wrong to bill full days, and it allows me to juggle projects for different companies, but my billable hours are down. I know I should bill a daily rate, but not sure that will fly. Thoughts?

Thanks for making this bowl all gender inclusive. The other bowl simply was outdated and lacked any kind of diversity whatsoever at all.

Gay man who works in a large org that is big on diversity and inclusion efforts. I’d say about 50-60% of people (at all levels, across all age groups and races) list their gender pronouns in email signature. I list mine because I see it as a way to show support for colleagues who may not be cisgender. If anyone else works in the same type of environment, do you infer anything about colleagues who choose not to list their gender pronouns? (such as they are homo/trans phobic?)

Well I recently told a guy I have been seeing I have HSV-2. We have not yet been physical but it’s been heading that direction. Man I hate this part - waiting to see what his response will be after he researches and talks to his doctor. I’m on daily meds which help reduce transmission risk. You’d think that since HSV-2 affects 20% of Americans and likely a higher % of gay men, there would be less taboo but it’s hardly ever talked about. Anyone else in my shoes? Or had it disclosed to them?
