New here! Can you please like my post :)
Hi Fishes
I want to share very bad experience I had at Mastercard
I was given offer by Mastercard in month of Dec The hike was less but looking at brand & other perks I accepted the offer & was looking forward to joining them.I got few offers & I went back to them for sole purpose of renegotiating CTC, to have a industry standard hike. They didn't reverted back for 2-3 days & just dropped a mail that they are revoking initial offer as well on grounds that they didn't like i gave other interview

I mean 10 months savings + unemployment is pretty solid
I feel like that’s not enough to not be worried. You’d be scraping by for 10 months. It’s can take that long to find the right job in some cases
If you had 60k saved it would be different - you could live two years fine and not need to worry about it. Could even have small splurges here and there if you only needed 10 months to find a job
2 years scraping by vs 10 months with some splurges here and there...
Not at all. I’ve actually stopped worrying and stressing about being laid off because of my nest egg - 40k and ~3.5k expenses. Not including 401k. If it happens, take some time for mental health break and then be at it again to looking for a new job. Also my hubby works still in an essential job, so kinda different scenario but I’m the breadwinner. Things will turnaround eventually. I survived the financial crisis with a lot less and on my own.
Similar case here but I’m not eligible for unemployment because I’m here on a visa so that sucks
What do you think, OP? 🙄
Just dropped all my $$$$ on a down payment for a house so hope I don’t lose my job!
Where do you live op?
I live in Austin
Are you in California G1? Some immigrants here illegally are eligible for additional support. Do people on work visas have no avenue?
So I guess I am chilling with 120K in the bank and 100K in my 401K
Privilege.
It’s not a privilege depending on where you are at in your career. I’m at 15+ years and starting saving more a while back. I still have school loans, etc. but put aside $ for times like these. Don’t consider that a privilege considering my comp and yrs on the job. I consider that smart.
