Sitting on 300k. Was hoping for another dip but looks like that ship won’t arrive. Considered real estate but now with not knowing the covid impact- getting cold feet.
So thinking stocks/ etf etc.
Should I just DCA? Cruise line or airlines still worth getting into?

My mother has $80k she’s had on the sidelines for years in a money market account in her 401k and she’s asked that I put it in the market for her. Should I put this in the market now or DCA over the next few months? FWIW she’s in her 60’s and will retire in 5-10 years

Net worth=158k.
Brokerage=5.6k (ETFs like FTEC, FCOM, VOO, etc).
IRA=2k (just started).
Not interested in 401k (won’t make it to vesting period).
HYSA=70.5k.
Checking =67k.

I am having trouble DCAing because I don’t want my DCA to go up... (i.e. I have VOO at 290 and have 15k in cash, wasn’t able to buy more because that would mean my cost avg will go up 😂)
any wise words for me to overcome this irrational emotion?

30% of my 401K is in target funds. This is from earlier in my career when I used to do Roth 401K. Is it wise to move the money from Target date funds to bonds and then DCA into S&P500 within the portfolio or even wait for the market to dip and buy at large into S&P? The growth in the target date fund has been painfully small.

401k question:
It seems generally advantageous to lump sum your Roth IRA each year as early as possible vs DCA since it can accumulate returns at a higher rate over time. That being said, does this apply to 401k as well? For ex: is there any downside in just front loading my 401k contribution completely each year if I can cover living expenses in the meantime? (i.e putting 100% of paycheck into 401k contribution until limit) thanks!

I’m so bad at investing. I make many emotional investing decisions without thinking too much about them. Like I just sold ETF I didn’t like much and as soon as I sold it, it went up by 20%. So many of my individual stocks are underwater by a big margin. My returns are probably like 15-20% over the past 3-4 years. Anyone in similar boat? I should just stick to VOO and DCA...?

For anyone asking about if dollar cost averaging works - I did DCA in my IRA for the first 6 months this year, and I’m currently up 11.8%. Had I done a lump sum back in Jan, I would only just today be back up to even!

Do you use ours against your assets in your long term portfolio? I have heard so many say both ways. Yes the cost is great due to the negative correlation and offsetting the losses in a big drawback others say if you are DCA why bother you buy low and why not self insure

Moving everything I have with Wealthfront to a brokerage account. Should I:
1) Move over a little bit each week
2) Take it all out at once and DCA into brokerage
