I have 1 full day + 1 half day off in San Francisco and will have a car so open to a short drive. I prefer nature, museums, and insta-friendly spots over food, nightlife, etc. Would appreciate any recommendations!

Anyone else applying to make the jump from Uber's San Francisco office to the Santa Monica office only to find that it's a 10% decrease in salary (the same percentage decrease to work remotely anywhere in the United States)?

Hi all - looking for some advice as a first time buyer. We’re looking to buy in the San Diego area. Total base pay compensation combined is 220k. We were looking at 700,000 price range with about 10% down. From experience do you all think this is reasonable - should we lower or raise the value of the home? I'll be moving out to San Diego for a few months and wont have a car, can I get around downtown without one? Also, what areas within downtown are safe?

I have received 5 offers so far to work in Tax-Asset Management (San Francisco) (PWC, KPMG, Deloitte, EY, and Andersen...). I narrowed it down to 2 options based on compensation/brand, with KPMG having the highest offer and PWC being my first choice. Can someone share some insights regarding clients, exposure, exit opportunities between the two of them?

We have ~$400k HHI. Monthly expenses are ~$6k (1 child). We live in Austin. We’re seriously considering getting a 900k to 1M house which we wouldn’t be considering if the market in Austin wasn’t so crazy but we’re really big on proximity to culture/resources and need to stay in the area (can’t move to Houston, Dallas, San Antonio , etc.). We also just honestly feel like the suburbs out here are so very bland.

Thoughts on us doing this? Are we crazy? Is this understandable given where we live?

Hi! I am planning to move from Georgia to California (San Jose). Prior to signing a new lease in San Jose, I wanted to work with the immigration to file my the LCA for the work location change. They are asking me for the exact address and I haven’t narrowed down at this point. Can I temporarily give a friend’s address in the same area for my LCA? Or should I sign a lease with my name and then start the LCA process? Any guidance is appreciated. Thanks so much in advance!

San Francisco New Year’s Eve ideas that aren’t super $$$?

Hi everyone! I’m switching internally to my company’s LA office (from Boston). I only need to be in the office 1 or 2x per week and am toying around with the idea of living in San Diego and commuting up that one day. It’s likely be a 2.5hr drive or so each way, which seems like a lot. Can anyone speak to whether or not I’d go insane with that setup or if there are ways to make it more tolerable? I just have more family / friends in SD and would prefer to live there if possible :) thank you!!

What is salary of A1 at pwc in VHCOL (like SF or San Jose?

Why do some people online always think living in LCOL areas is objectively better than HCOL? as someone who grew up in the middle of nowhere flyover state and now lives in San Diego, my life is way better. Sure you can afford a home or more home in a cheaper place but it isn’t some kind of hidden gem. you get what you pay for.

Let’s talk Salary. I’m seeking an in-house counsel position as an Associate at a large financial institution. Headquarters is San Antonio, TX. I have 13+ years of Regulatory experience in other industries and 3 years at a large financial institution. I researched on Indeed and there was only one salary posted. I’m currently employed at the company in the legal department in a non-attorney position. I’d appreciate any feedback on salary ranges or strategies on negotiating a pay increase.
