Graduating Ross and going to McKinsey post MBA, ask me anything!

Been working on a plan and making connections to move from ACN consulting to PE pre-MBA.

My experience/background is predominantly management consulting & strategy-type engagements. However, I know that ACN is non-target unlike MBB.

Curious to know if there are any others who have made this switch, and/or if this seems doable? In my opinion, the right connections can make anything possible but feel free to reality-check. I know this is a supportive bowl, so any tips or advice welcome too!

Hi from the US! Anyone here completed their MBA from Imperial College’s Business School? How has your experience been & how is the school perceived as in in the UK/Europe?

Hello all MBB friends - I saw in the bowl before that for McKinsey NY office, it is about 60% H/W, 20% CBS and 20% other schools. Is this also similar at BCG and Bain? So if post MBA goal is to work at MBB in NYC, I am guessing that CBS has a slight advantage compared to Booth as predominant portion of Booth grads will be recruited to work at Chicago office?

I’ve been in a corporate/internal strategy role for 1.5 years after M7-MBA. I’ve been in a very toxic team and I want to get out. I’ve started looking for jobs and noticed that there are not many consultant/associate level type of roles. My team has demoralized me to the point I don’t think I’m ready for MBB and a friend at MBB said they want to get out too. Any advice on what kind of jobs to look for post this exp of strategy? Feel lost.

Hi Guys, I started my career in 2012 - so that means 10 YOE. But I took a 2.5 yrs gap in 2019 to prepare for UPSC, failed & returned to corporate in 2022. So actual YOE is 7.5. (Soft Eng > BA > PM). No MBA.

I'm currently a Product Manager in NCR with 40B + 2.5 JB + 15% V. Has this stint placed me at a disadvantage vis a vis my peers in terms of CTC / Position many of whom are AVP / Eng Managers? When negotiating what exp / CTC should I really quote?

How do people actually afford to live well in MBA? I’ll be applying next fall, but I anticipate still having student debt and essentially no substantial savings.

Even if I got sponsorship from Deloitte or a scholarship, it would still be tough.

Anyone transitioned from non-FAANG tech to MBB? Currently working at a startup (unicorn status) and wanting to explore my options. Any insight on transition/qualifications/type of roles at MBB would be greatly appreciated! I’d ideally want to work in digital strategy.

Anybody switched jobs after submitting MBA application? Will I need to address it in interviews / background checks?

Admits from Ivy League MSBA program & a T25-T30 MBA program. Would it be sensible to pursue the MSBA (primarily for the brand name) & defer the MBA admit for the following year? Or is it better to simply go for the MBA and save $$$

I am one semester away from my completing my MBA in finance and have applied for an Investment Banking position countless times. I have completed certifications relevant to the field, and I will have my SIE by February, as well as one year+ experience with one of the largest market data providers who work with IB analysts and associates everyday. I literally build the models they use and assist with their day-to-day workflow. What else can I do to be a better candidate, and land a position?

How much % hike can I expect while switching?

I just finished my MBA and I am an electrical engineer of 10years experience. I received a job offer as a senior engineer from a an engineering company. I previously discussed project manager role with this company but they extend me a senior engineer position.
I would like to get advice on what to do, how to proceed, and have an idea of salary that i should negociate if i decide to go with the company?
