Looking for a PwC senior associate referral in Advisory, anyone want to help me out. I have about 3.5 YOE, a PMP, an engineering degree from a top 10 engineering program, and feel like I’m a good fit for the position.

Is getting the PMP designation worth it (time and money)? I already have my CPA and not searching for a job right now, but wondering if employers find this skill set valuable.

What benefit will I get after completing PMP?

Interested to hear how people learn project management. I have done PRINCE2 exam and read PMP materials, but I find these are too textbook theory based. Real life projects seem to be very different and a lot more complicated. I often do not know what needs to be done unless someone tells me. I believe you can learn these things on the job, but I am keen to expedite this with some books or courses. Are there any resources that are particularly helpful?

Left industry for consulting last year. I’m fairly certain I could meet the experience for PMP given my role in industry, but figured I’d go for CAPM first since it will cover the education hours requirement for PMP. I work with a few people that use the CAPM after their name. Is that looked down on since it’s a lesser certification?

Anyone know anyone who’s done the Blackstone PMP (portfolio management program)?

Anyone have any experience with Blackstone’s PMP program? Trying right gauge if it’s worthwhile to take a pay cut for it.

Currently a District Manager for General Motors. Within the last 6 months I’ve earned my MBA , PMP and Six Sigma GreenBelt. My dream career is to become a management consultant but I am having troubles with getting an interview/ role. Does anyone have any leads or opportunities within a consulting firm?

Asking on behalf of my parent who I think is severely under compensated and needs to go elsewhere:

- Associate Director at a F100 w/15+ YOE in this industry
- Has an MBA and a PMP
- Engineering background (foreign country) with program/project/portfolio management experience in current role

Currently making $130-$150K with like a $20-30K bonus.

What’s a realistic salary target? Always been a high performer but because English isn’t the first language I worry they’ve been taken advantage of.

How useful is PMP certification, both from a personal benefit POV and a “visibility” or “prestige/competence” POV? I am considering it because 1) I’m young (25) but a top performer. I feel like it’s a mitigation for me being perceived as “too young” to take on leadership roles. 2) I am naturally analytical so technical parts of the job come natural, but due to lack of formal education surrounding project mgt I think it would give me a useful foundation to lean on as I start to lead projects.

For anyone with the PMP, tips for preparing? How much previous PM experience is advantageous?

I already have ITILv3 (foundation and intermediate service strategy). I was planning on geting the remaining intermediate certifications and levelling up. However with ITILv4, v3 seems redundant and I might need to repeat foundation again for v4. However PMP might be a better choice with my role. Can anyone help me with this dilemma?

Is it worth getting a PMP cert?

Fishes being in associate level, I want to upskill myself on either PMP or Prince2, however with the current role, I don't have the exposure of being a program manager and gain experience.

What kind of experience and education do you need to become a director of project management? What does it take? I’ve worked in the PM field for over 10 years, held Sr PM positions, and now work as a Regional Operations Manager. I’ve got my PM certification and am working towards my PMP but not sure if that’s enough.

Does it matter if your certifications expired or not? And is it okay to still add the expired certifications on your resume or do I need to get recertified to do so? (E.g. Certified Scrum Master, PMP, etc.)
