Had final interview with company, about a week later recruiter says they want to interview more people before making a decision but that they're also hiring more headcount now. What's your overanalysis of my chances?

Is it okay after a group interview to send one mass email or should I send individual ones?

A few years ago I landed an interview at W+K to for their lead social role. I didn’t get it.

The guy who did was just promoted to…ECD of W+K in Portland.

I work at a third-rate digital agency reporting to our head of strategy in a big network making boring decks for boring clients.

Best advice for negotiating the salary you want — when you’re hoping for 10K or a 10-15% jump from your last salary? Interviewing at a smaller shop but they have lots of business.

Any advice for someone (a friend) looking to transition from film production to advertising (in toronto, if that matters)? Having a ton of trouble getting even an interview for a junior role - even the most junior account roles are asking for 1-3 years of agency experience. TONS of transferable skills and super eager/great attitude, just hitting a wall. I suspect all it’ll take is a break by one of the many people he’s met for coffee, but any advice or words of wisdom would be appreciated.

I have an interview tomorrow with an ECD at an agency that is showing some red flags. But I’m at an agency now that is just one giant red flag and is driving me crazy. Do I take the jump to the other agency (if they offer me the job) or stick it out at my current job and hope something with no red flags comes along?

a recruiter who i’ve worked with before and has connected me to 2 job offers (did not take them), just reached out again. i saw the JD and personally i don’t want to move right now especially since i was just promoted and on a new account.

what should i say? i don’t want to waste his time by taking interviews i don’t want or end up taking, but i also know you shouldn’t say no to a recruiter/interview

What’s an acceptable excuse to reschedule an interview?

I'm getting ready to accept an offer at a new agency, but what I really want is to go in-house. I had 6 very positive interviews at a co. but lost out by a hair. They said they're growing & would keep me in mind for future relevant openings.

Is it worth pinging that co's recruiter to let her know I'm considering a role at a new agency & ask if they expect any openings soon?

Feels unlikely, but I'd hate to start a new job and then get a call from the company I actually want to work for.

3 times I have gone through the interview process with big agencies and have gotten positive feedback all the way through to final interviews. Discussed salary and start date etc. only to be told right before offer time that internal team shifts or client scopes shifts mean the position is now on hold. But the team “loved” meeting me and as soon as a suitable position opens they’d love to interview again. Is this something you guys have experienced or am I doing something wrong on my end?

Trying to break into tech… do you think its worth joining a company like Amazon doing a position I know I’m capable in but not incredibly tech related just to have Amazon on my resume for future jobs? Trying to weigh pros/cons especially given what I’ve heard work life balance wise. Final interviews coming up and I’m just stuck on this.

Morning Fish. Looking for some hive-mind advice. I applied for a great FAANG role a couple of weeks ago, which was fully remote. I was contacted for an interview, and since applying, the listing has changed to their NY or CA office, which I can't do (relocation not an option). Should I do the interview anyway, or withdraw but ask to be considered should further similar remote roles come up?

What they say and what they mean - a slightly cynical posting about red flags I've observed from agency job postings / interviews.

"We're like a family" - We expect you to give up any personal life and live here.

"We don't do drama" - We have constant drama here because of a some bad apples we can't get rid of.

"Such a great opportunity (recruiter)" - I'm going to severely lowball you because of the GREAT opportunity.

“I’m not going to get mad at you if you need to log off to put your kids to bed, then log back on later.”

Do CDs normally respond to thank you emails or do the ones I interview with just not like me?

I referred a friend for the same position as me. Prior to them applying, I shared my salary with them (big mistake) and now they’ve asked for the same salary after the initial offer. The problem is that I have more experience them in certain areas and I have a broader skill set. I’m starting to regret referring them, as I can tell this is going to be one of the many instances where they try to compete with me.

I was interviewed by the creative dept at an agency and am set to have another call with their HR tomorrow (I imagine for an offer). Looking to make the jump from Account Exec to Senior Account Exec. Moving from Chicago to Milwaukee. Interviewing for an agency role. Long-term goal is in-house in 2-3 years. Currently making $55k. What’s a realistic increase? Should I ask between $62-68k? I’ve been told by an Account Director that some agencies are doing sign-on bonuses, too and should even ask higher. Your thoughts? Applied for a junior job position in Atlanta and have an interview on Monday. The company has an opening for the same role in NYC and they have another office in Miami where I live. What are the odds they let me work out of Miami or NYC?
