It seems on most interviews I only get to speak to higher ups. What are your thoughts on asking HR to let me a peak to someone on my level?

Any tips for how to prep/practice for interviews? I haven’t interviewed in 7 years and it was for entry level positions, so the types of questions will now be much different.

How soon is too soon to leave?

I started my first real gig in advertising as a junior at a small agency about six months ago. However, after settling in, I’m realizing the account they have me primarily working is not interested in making good work, and prob not anytime in the near future.

I’m being interviewed for a mid-level position at a bigger, better agency, but don’t want to cut bait unless it’s the right move.

What should I do??

How does one catch their manager in a lie? I have hard evidence via email on what they told me during the interview process about how long they will train me. Now they are going back on their word and expecting not to train me at all. Is this something I bring up to HR? I already decided I see the red flags and going to leave. However, I can’t let them get away with this as they will treat the next person like this.

First face to face interview with the founder of a startup and they give me a verbal offer - is this a ⛳?

For context, I worked with a good friend of theirs who recommended me personally for the job. I asked to give me some time and said I'd like a second interview to talk through things in more detail. Should I be worried that they're so keen?

Interview question: Is it inappropriate to ask how the company handled COVID during 2020-2021 (I'd say "peak" but lol the waves haven't stopped)? Is this best asked to HR or the hiring manager?

I understand layoffs were inevitable in certain places, but I think it's a huge red flag if they forced their employees to go into the office during this time.

What are standard turnarounds from final round interview to offer? For context- Had final rounds for two roles this week- first on Tuesday for a publisher side role, second agency side yesterday. Both recruiters sent quick notes post interviews saying I should expect an update ASAP.

Is it bad to jump ship to another agency if you know you’re going to leave within a year? It’s a promo and would increase my salary by at least $50k, but I know I want to leave advertising for good. I’ve been trying to interview outside of advertising but nothing has happened yet. I figured I might as well get paid way more while I figure it out. And the title bump should help, right?

So I'm in a weird space at the moment. I've been interviewing with a lot of agencies in the past couple of months, and I keep getting the same response of "I need more agency experience." How am I supposed to get that experience if one of the things holding me back is not having enough agency experience?

Rough day: just notified that I’m now 0-5 on potential new jobs. I don’t get it - my books good, got some awards, done the BIG work, professional al experience is good, interviews seemed to go well. Then, the “NOOOOPE!”email arrives. I wish we’d get meaningful feedback on what was missing, as It’s Hard not to feel like I suck right now. While you are hemming and hawing about whether I’m a good enough hire, and debating and deliberating whether I’ll fit your culture, I’m grinding it on my end reaching out to other companies, interviewing with other recruiters, so don’t d!€k around too long!

Thoughts about freelancing someone after you interview them as a trial run? Part of me feels like it’s an obvious way to really get to know how someone works, in a way you never would from just interviews. But I don’t want to commit a faux pas by asking. And I guess it would bias me towards those who are currently not full-time and are able to freelance.

Share salary? Do you share you current salary with your potential employer while interviewing and/or have you shared but lied about the number?

I currently make $100K but told HR during my interview that I started at $120K and that I got a raise to $140K. They haven’t asked for verification which I would not share regardless but I’m asking for $160-170K for a Strategy Director.

Received an offer from Company A this morning. Company B has been moving me quickly through the process this week and reached out this morning saying they put me on the schedule for late this afternoon. Is it rude to email Company B and say I’ve accepted another offer and to cancel the interview or should I go through with the interview and then politely withdraw. The role at B is interesting but A is my top choice.
