Anyone work at group nine media on the creative side or have experience with them? I’m interviewing with them for a design position and I wanna get a better sense of what to expect w/ company culture, creative team, etc. Would love to hear your experience, thanks!!

If you know you can only offer a creative 75% of their current comp, why would you even bother having them interview without first being upfront about it?

Creative interview - doesn’t seem like you worked at any relevant award winning agencies. How many awards do you have? Is this everything in your portfolio? Can you tell me about projects you are doing outside of work? Will you take a demotion or salary cut to have a chance at award winning work here? We are passionate here, so do you like to work late nights and weekends? Last candidate had a viral application.

I’m applying to a creative position that involves focusing heavily on “customer engagement”.

Knowing we’re already familiar with a candidates work/portfolio by the time you chat, what are some compelling questions you like to ask (or have been asked) that helps you learn more about a creative and what makes them a good fit? Do you have a “go-to” question? Or have you been asked one that made you say “wow that’s an interesting question...” or we’re unprepared for type thing? Thanks!

Creative resume templates vs traditional, what are your thoughts on using one more than the other? Recognizing its relative to the firm you’re applying to, which is generally better to leverage?

I'm going for an internal position switch to strategy consultant in advanced analytics.

The internal switch requires a normal interview 30' talk about motivations, strengths, ... And a case interview.

Some competitors search for 'creative' ways of tackling the first minutes of the 30' talk by creating eg. a video where others present the candidate.

How is this perceived by hiring managers, and if perceived good, what other ways are great?

I interviewed for a job I really want with a couple of creative directors. They told me to feel free to email them with any questions, is that a good sign? Secondly, should I hit them up a week and a half later or would they have already made their mind up by then?

Hello! I need some (creative) suggestions on how to do a video interview. I live in a very small 1br apartment with my husband occupying the bedroom for work during the day and a 2 yr old occupying the living area. I thought of the kitchen but it’s proximity to a busy road makes it a little too noisy to have a good call. The bathroom perhaps? Will that create an echo? I am thinking of using a backdrop so that the mess will be covered up. It will be a 30-min interview.

Does anyone have any interview insights/tips for a creative role at Instagram? Have a phone screening next week and I know the calls can be pretty intense. Any advice from people’s personal experiences would be appreciated!

A tech firm reached out, and I had a 30-min call with a CD. Went well and I agreed to more interviews. Turns out the next round is a “4-hour panel WebEx interview”. Their creative dept isn’t well established, so is it wrong for me to politely say “4 hours is a big investment, can we briefly chat about salary range, title, etc”? I kinda don’t want to go down this road for a lateral title and who-knows-what salary. If it was a better-known in-house shop, I’d go with the flow.

When it comes to showing pharma creative in a portfolio, what is and isn’t allowed? I understand things need to be password protected online, but does all work need to be blinded too? Not sure what the rules are when it comes to online portfolios and in person interviews for creatives. Help?

What questions do you ask potential creative hires during their interview?

I’m an advertising guy interviewing with a big 5 consultancy and now they want to do a case study interview - I’ve seen the online examples and think I’m starting to get the hang of profit trees and market sizing methods (very different level of rigor than creative strategy). Any practical hints or tips to get through this?

I concept and write commercials. Me (and my art director) interview and hire directors for all our spots, make all casting decisions, oversee wardrobe, cast VO, direct VO, oversee art direction, color correction, sound design, choose and direct music.
