has anyone seen immediate results after getting a SHRM certification? i’m applying for entry level hr roles with recruiting coordinator, hr intern, admin asst, and a customer service role on my resume and no luck so far. i’m wondering if this will help me land a job quicker? also wanted to ask if anyone has knowledge of grants/programs to assist with payment since i am unemployed and money is tight. thanks!

Hey guys. I have a technical interview with AlixPartners restructuring and turnaround team. This is for their summer intern position. I didn’t come from a restructuring background. Does anyone have an idea of what might get asked in the interview? Is it going to be very restructuring specific or some general accounting/ finance/ operational sides of topics.

Tomorrow I have 2 interviews: for Market Data Analyst @ CS, and for Client Data Analyst @ AXA XL. I'm currently Junior Managed Operations Analyst @ FIS, with half YOE on this position, and almost a year as Audit Intern @ KPMG. I've decided to apply for those positions as just within those 6 months I've outperformed all of my team members except of 1 witch has over 3 YEO. I don't see more opportunities to grow there.

What are some not obvious questions that I can be asked / I can ask?

Anyone who renege and get any backlash? I signed an offer with a big 4 for full time and am still interviewing with other companies. ( Was an intern last summer and my offer got pushed out to summer cause my masters is 1.5 years and I graduate in December (In my defense the big 4 refused to let me go to another practice.) Plus pressured by parents to accept something before I graduate.

I have experiences that demonstrate analytical skills, independence, teamwork and communication and have decent casing experiences along with a great GPA. VC fund I interviewed with has 100 AUM. 6 person team. When I started talking with them, they wanted me to do a 3 month internship. Figured it was fine because I was tired of consulting and would get my foot in the door. Now they’re telling me that they just raised another 100M. And they want me to intern for 12 months with no guarantee of anything at the end. Clearly isn’t a money problem with the new fund so……

I’ve applied to all the B4/midsize/regional firms for tax staff/intern and was not even able to get a single interview. Graduated last year w/. 150 credits, 3.65 GPA, CPA in progress, under a year of relevant work experience/volunteer activity. Rehearsed my resume many times and wasn’t even given a chance. Is there is something wrong with me?

Hi, I’m an undergrad majoring in economics. I’m now a junior and couldn’t find an intern for summer. I am thinking applying to a one year graduate program in business analytics so I get more skills built up. Could anyone give me some advice about whether this is doable? I’m hesitating because I haven’t really taken much programming classes and most my coding skills are built up by doing research. Same with math. Thanks in advance!!

Is this salary too low? I'm @ final interview for senior accountant and job posting said $60-65k. Before you say it's too low right away, my experience is on a low end of this of this role. Just 1 year auditer @ national top 10, 6 months intern at same firm, 1 year accounting intern at local private firm, and 2 years doing AP clerk. I'm a licensed CPA and in MCOL. I really want this title for growth but don't want to get stiffed. It's a large corp w/ great benefits.

I received an interview invite for McKinsey’s Ops internship. While I appreciate the invite, I was hoping to interview for a generalist position. Is it better to ask the recruiter if I can be considered for a generalist interview slot instead or to accept the Ops intern invite (with the hope of transferring to generalist after the internship)?

What advice should I give someone who wants to make a career change from marketing/strategy into copywriting?

Is it likely they can break into an agency without doing the whole process of portfolio school, making a book, and applying as an intern/junior?

Are all job offers from business schools coming through the internship the year prior? Is any body just straight up applying for full time roles? Just wondering what your job opportunities are like if you didn’t enjoy your internship, didn’t take part in one for whatever reason, or are in PT program. For example, do MBB/Accenture/B4 interview people that didn’t intern for them?

Might get biased answers from this bowl but interested to read thoughts. Currently in pm/bizops intern role at Tesla with summer mbb interviews coming up, and I am unsure of which path to take coming out of undergrad.

Reasons for consulting:
- travel, lifestyle
- fast paced, constant changing of clients and projects to learn and gain responsibility quickly
- friends and network among class

Pro of staying:
- fulfilling mission
- long term want to be in sustainability
Cons:
- slower growth ops

Undergrad intern here. Anyone know how strict MBB is with their GPA cutoff and if it’s possible to network my way to an interview if I’m at the lower end of that cutoff.
