Did BCG just create a new non equity partner position? Just saw a number of 3rd year principals get promoted to partner. So curious if BCG made the partner path shorter or created a new position. Heard rumors about the latter

Re: my resume: How should I position the freelance that my art director partner and I work on together? The nature of it is a lot more conceptual and more brand building-y than the freelance that I've worked on solo. Should we create a company name to file it under? Or should I put it under my other freelance work?

My start date for McKinsey is in 2 weeks but I have received no response regarding the background check. Can I ask McKinsey what the current status is? Does the hiring manager e.g. hiring partner review any possible deviations that occur during the background check or is it HR that reviews this?

Currently in IT audit (SOX mainly) but company has an internal position for Microsoft Alliance PMO (Manager). Partner recommended me and thought I’d be good at it. Connecting with hiring partner this week. Any thoughts on taking up the offer? Always been client facing so this would be different. What is the salary band for the position in Texas? It would be a 2 year rotation. Would I be limiting my exit opportunities or is this a good gig?

What’s are the good exit ops out of PE? After 3 years in consulting, I can see myself grinding in PE for 2-3 years. But I have no ambitions to become MD or partner.

How do you deal with the stress of demanding clients, bosses, etc? I’m on a small team in a stretch role where I get multiple urgent asks from my Partner and clients each day, and never quite feel like I know what I’m doing. I know this is part of the learning process, but I get anxious hearing an outlook notification, and am constantly stressed that I’m not doing a good job

Any advice on how to prepare for an informal interview chat with a partner in big law who is in charge of student recruitment? Im outside of the normal hiring period but was told by some that firms can hire outside of the recruitment cycle on a case by case basis

I’m interviewing for a Manager position with Guidehouse. All I know is that it will be a 45mn panel with a Partner, Director, and Associate Director. Any insight would be appreciated.

Does anyone feel like they can’t ask the firm to pay for e- seminars/training in this cost-cutting situation? I wanna do so, it’s a relevant course, not too expensive and so far my firm seems to be doing OK (hiring and pay freezes but no redundancies) but I just feel the managing partner will be low key irritated (she is fairly calculative imo and rightly so) and I really don’t want to get in her bad books. Am I just overthinking?

How do you handle an awkward interview when the partner doesn't sound interested and has questioned your credentials or skillset for the position? I'm not sure if it's a interview tactic or if we're just not geling well over a video call. Interview was scheduled for 45 mins- he had 15 mins of ?s and I had 15 mins of ?s and ended it. I felt discouraged 10 mins into it when he asked whether I knew about the role and why the hiring manager passed me to him given my background and experiences. 🤷

I like the strategic thinking element of consulting but I hate the salesmanship and networking which makes me not see being a partner as a long-term goal. Is there a role inside or outside of consulting that would be a good fit for me?

Hey guys, I am being approached by Capgemini for a role in their salesforce practice. The recruiter said an engagement manager role, what level is that role? I am an extremely experienced senior manager at Accenture (one level below partner), what level/title should I push for with capgemni? Don’t want to get screwed with a junior role. Does anyone have experience doing a “Situational experience” interview with McKinsey? It’s for an expert role and the interviewer is a partner (final round). This is in addition to the case interviews.

People who have transitioned from consulting to industry or an objectively less demanding role (i.e working 40-45 hrs a week), what makes you feel good about your decision? After a decade in client services, I’m reaching a breaking point and can’t see consulting being sustainable with a young family. But I’m so achievement-driven that I’m having a hard time taking my foot off the gas; I know seeing peers advance once I’ve stepped away will be hard. For context, I’m F and ~8 yrs away from Partner

All I want is HBS and to make Partner at MBB, followed by a leadership role in banking. I am such a basic brown girl. I tried a couple of Finance jobs, but as soon as I landed in consulting I was like stability and prestige, hallelujah. My parents didn’t even pressure me. So basic.

Have you ever been offered partner position at a small agency? (<50 people) Did you accept? Why or why not? What worked out about your decision? What do you regret? Can you still quit later? What should people in this position consider?

Could someone at McKinsey explain this? My understanding is that the hierarchy at McKinsey goes from Junior Associate to Associate to Engagement Manager to Associate Partner and finally Partner. On the McKinsey career site, I see several position advertised as Consultant ("implementation consultant", "Healthcare Consultant"). Are these contract-based temporary roles? Or do these positions align more to an Engagement Manager level?

BCG fish - is partner still an equity partner position at BCG or does one have to be an MDP to start earning equity.

Just a general question from someone new to consulting and the workforce. Do most people leave consulting solely for jobs that are more rewarding/ of interest to them? In terms of comp, is it right to say that staying in consulting and making it to partner is way more than someone can make exiting to industry, unless they are able to get a high up/ executive position?

Planning to exit consulting to start an Ed tech venture that I am really passionate about. Have been doing this startup silently but not 100% involved because I have a full-time consulting job that takes up most of my time. However I have been able to acquire customers and generate revenues to support operational expenses. Hello 🐟 - qq for you all. I’m currently in tax and just got promoted to senior associate. I currently make $84K and am working on a XLOS project with an advisory team. Once my project concludes I was going to make a case to switch over to advisory and let my current partner know. I’ve spoken with the advisory partner and he told me he is on board but that I should wait until the pandemic is over since they are on a hiring freeze. Does anyone know what my new salary would be if I switched over?

I think I’m finally ready to seriously consider leaving public accounting. The problem is I don’t know what I would want to leave for. I’m a high performer in my group and the partners made it clear that I’m on a partner track, but I just can’t do these hours anymore. I'm considering a jump to a FAANG HR Business Partner position. Hoping to get advice from the fishes. My real passion is corporate strategy, but I've done a ton of work with HR over the years, and a good amount of client coaching and training. Would this hurt my chances of going back to corporate strategy later? Is it worth the risk to get into a FAANG?

As a manager in Big 4 I reported to a partner all the while I was at the firm, so acted as a de-facto director often with managed and sales revenue toy name. Didn't get promoted, however, so ended up exiting. Didn't quite land the best role but ended up with a SM title in industry. The role however has lesser responsibility in comparison to my big 4 role. How do people adjust with such misalignment?

Any idea on TC for a cyber expert role at McKinsey? Is this role on traditional partner track? Just trying to gauge what the differences are when compared to generalist roles and career trajectory.

Career Advice: Non Tech PM in the DC/Nova area with an AWS SA cert. Trying to get staffed on a cloud based project at work but opportunities seem slim due to COVID. Would like to exit to a Eng. Manager, PM or Product role at AWS.

Should I - 1) Apply at AWS and test my luck 2) Spend a year or two with a smaller beltway bandit/ aws partner in a cloud tech based PM role before approaching AWS? 3) Apply for a cloud based role at a Big 4 before AWS? if so, I'm case ready,
