I have not been performing well in my role. I have some terrible reviews, but I have not been placed on a PIP yet. However, a partner put a private meeting on my calendar for Friday afternoon. I’m freaking out bc I feel like I’m going to be fired. I have been at the firm for less than a year. Has anyone heard of or has been in a similar situation? If so, what was the outcome?

I have an interview tomorrow for a real estate acquisition analyst role with the Managing Partner of a small real estate PE firm. Currently an A2 in audit and feeling a bit under-qualified. I have very little experience in RE modeling but don’t want to explicitly mention that during the interview (for obvious reasons). Any advice on how I should approach my inexperience if asked during the interview?

A partner submitted my resume to her firm’s recruiting department and I got called in for an interview. I’m researching the interviewers and one is the hiring attorney. Is that a good sign or routine?

(I haven’t worked in big law to know.)

Can you all provide any insight or tips into this role whether you've done it or partnered with someone who has. Also, what do you consider the media & marketing process to be?

Currently in the US but interviewing for a UK-based firm and role. The comp level they are throwing around is £250k TC. Is this reasonable for a Director-level role with 12 YOE?

My comparator would be wait 18-24mo to become a consulting partner - in the US that starts at $450k/£325k.

For the purposes of this question, assume I’m optimizing for initial comp, not long term potential, and not livability, Intl experience, WLB, CoL etc.

Interviewing at McKinsey from a big 4 consulting firm - currently an engagement manager interviewing for an engagement manager role on the partner track - comp at big 4 is currently $165k base, what’s a reasonable amount to ask for at mck?

I got an Ivy League exec mba in 2020 as well, which hasn’t yet been reflected in my big 4 comp (we mostly didn’t do raises because of covid last year). Trying to understand how much higher mck might be willing to go?

Start-up I had final rounds with said I was a great fit, but didn’t hire me for the role. Now they’re asking me to come on for a 3-6 month consulting role with potential to come on full time. This requires me to leave McK, where I am BA working on transition to EM. I really wanted to work for this start-up and don’t want to be a partner, but hate leaving McK for non-guaranteed outcome. Thoughts on what to do?

I received an offer from IBM for Senior system analyst role. I didn't accept or declined it. Instead, I talked to assigned HR partner regarding another offer in hand & mailed them offer letter as well.
The Hr said she will talk to management to revise it & revert within 2 days. It's been a week but no revert.
Does Ibm provide a revised offer based on offer in hand?
If yes, how long does it take to release revised offer?
Note : My notice period is 90 days & almost 75 days are left.

Need some advice. Got an offer this weekend but due to some family stuff recently, staying in the same city is my first choice. Is it possible to use the offer to help get an interview with for a more local role? For example, reaching out to someone (partner or director) and saying I have an offer but willing to take a lesser offer to stay local?

In TCS my CTC is 13 LPA presently and they want to retain me with promotion and A band in next few months down the line. Whereas my Honeywell joining is in Oct, they are offering me Senior HR Strategic Business Partner role. I definitely need some guidance here from you guys. What should I choose?

Within consulting, how does a partner land a role with no personal sales or revenue targets?

Looking for advice on breaking into the employment litigation field. I’m a 3rd-year general litigation associate at a v10 law firm in NYC where I’ve gotten to work on a couple of L&E cases. My job search for L&E roles has been slow because most of the roles require significant L&E experience. Would it be a bad idea to take a non-partner track role in an AmLaw100 firm’s L&E group in order to break into the field? What kinds of jobs would I be marketable for afterwards? Smaller firm? In-house?

Hi fishes! How practical is the idea to join a Big 4 to become a partner ? How many people (in terms of %) actually stay there for so long ? I’m getting into a Big4 with the aspiration to become a partner someday and letting go of a role in a product based firm giving me 7 lacs more in compensation. I later don’t want to regret my decision in monetary aspect. My YoE = 7+ years.

I just spoke with a Partner at a top 25 nationally ranked CPA firm. He is looking for an Audit Senior to support the firms commercial client group. This can be a fully remote role with limited travel requirements.

Rare to see a fully remote audit role.

Is this appealing?

Search firm reached out to me for an opp at a competitor. The job spec is pretty clear that they are looking for Partner with a track record in that role. Should I acknowledge that I’m not quite in that role (Y2 Director) but happy to see how far I get in the process? Or let them make the judgment themselves and turn me down when it comes to it?

Who has the most power when making a hiring decision in a Big 4 consulting super day interview? Is it the SM/Director/Partner? I did well on 3/4 interviews. I wonder if you don’t get the offer by bombing 1/4

I am a senior associate who is notable in the market due to my consistently excellent results on large matters in my field of law. I am being approached by a law firm to lateral over, and would like a partnership position if I were to make the leap. But junior partners at that firm don’t even make what I would want if I were to head over there. Can I negotiate more than junior partner pay there? Other law firm has a two-tier partnership. What else is on the table to negotiate?

I applied to BCG at the end of July as an experienced hire and didn't get an interview (just the Pymetrics then a rejection email). A partner was referring me. Should I assume my resume needs major improvement or that my timing for applying was bad (i.e. maybe they'd already completed their experienced hiring for the year)?

What role would have a better QOL, career versatility, intellectual stimulation, and income trajectory-corporate tax in-house role or a T&E partner with a law firm (boutique or Vault 100/Am law 200)?

I’m aware of family office roles for T&E folks that are hybrid investing/tax/legal roles with tremendous upside (high six figure income with reasonable hours) and I’m not sure if once you go tax in-house, you’re pretty much a tax in-house guy forever (maybe rare pivot available to finance C-suite)

So LEK seems to be on a hiring drive - how selective is the process, especially in Europe? Eg for every X candidates who make it past the first informal partner chat to the case/behavioral interviews, how many get offers?
