How much can one expect for a Senior Technical Platform Product Manager role in the Santa Clara Area?

8.5 Total YOE (3 years Engineering, 5.5 years in Tech Consulting)

Based on online research - Base (160- 180k) Total Comp (~200k). I do not want to ask for a number that puts them off but want to make sure I’m getting what I deserve.

I have a ton of clients on my list. Some are not as active as others but it is a lot. Over 40 and I work in a complex industry with lots of moving parts. My role is more of a combination of product manager and client relations manager.
I'm feeling exhausted because there is no system to really track client projects or requests beyond email. I feel like things are easy to miss and just had a situation where I missed a request and the follow up. I get over 200 emails a day minimum.

What’s a reasonable comp to expect for a Product Manager role after 4 years of consulting experience? Seeing a lot of PM roles below 150K- worth taking the comp hit for the title?

Consultant alone doesn’t say much and I’ve been designing web/mobile apps for a few years so the customization is apt, not BS.

Bringing this topic to the broader bowl: why is product manager at a big tech deemed a more respectable role than an internal Consulitng/biz ops role? I have interacted with some product managers at big tech. It seems to me the focus of PM work, especially at a big tech, is quite narrow: you start off improving a button, a UI, a small feature release, and nature of the work is very operational. Can someone explain to me the reason behind MBA grads flocking to PM path vs. say google biz ops?

Is anyone aware of any opening for product manager at any company?

Looking to change my job profile, and scouting for a referral. Have done my MBA from a tier 1 bschool and graduated this year.
Have a little bit of experience as a PM before, and have worked in the BFSI sector. Currently into sales and have been working for an IT services company.

I’m only 1 year in post-MBA and wondering if I should stick it out at least another year at D or take an offer from Amazon to go be a Senior Product Manager (their post-mba role). Comp is about the same since no raises or big bonuses from D this year. Downside is I’d have to pay back partial signing bonus. Think I might enjoy the product role more just because I like owning things and my year at D so far has felt somewhat “fluffy” and disjointed in terms of experience. Any advice from fellow 🐠?

Which profile is financially more rewarding in longer run - Tech Program Manager or Tech Product Manager in industry firms like Walmart etc. I am inclined more towards Prog Manager role as I see future path as Director Engineering --> CIO/CTO.

Been at Facebook for a month in a BizOps role. However, I just got a (very delayed) offer to be a Marvel product manager at Disney Streaming. Love facebook but my end goal is product management and it looks near impossible to switch internally since I’m in one of their HQ offices and most of the roles are sales. Should I switch? Comp is 30k less at DSS and not as good benefits, I’d burn a bridge, and I’m happy at FB but scared of losing a good opp

I like to apply for Product Manager roles at Amazon since I like the role. I have done front office CRM (SAP) implementations for Fortune50 clients through Accenture.
It is more of sitting with users to understand their process and map it to CRM suite and build additional features to map their specific processes.
I have also worked on sales, BD and functional spec creation for new features.
Can I count these as Product Management experience while applying for Amazon or other Faangmula?
