Is it worth it to try to negotiate with my current firm tor a counter offer? Somehow my coach, Talent manager, and comp partner all disappeared/MIA when I tried to reach out this week? 🙄😅 The deadline for offer is Sunday

If I’m 100% sure big law isn’t for me (i.e. don’t want to be partner), is it stupid of me not to take a signing bonus to lateral to another firm?

I’m a rising 3rd year and can probably stick it out 1-2 more years max.

Received two offers 1) Deloitte Specialist Leader C&M North America and 2) IBM Associate Partner IBM Consulting North America. Which one would you rate higher and why? Compensation comparable in both. TIA

Received an offer from a similar practice at another Big 4, including promo. Who do I speak to at EY to see if they’ll match salary/bonus and some promise of making agile promo? Counselor? CCL Partner? HR? Head of my (small) practice? Partner I work with most closely?

Does anyone know what a fair ratio is for the amount of money you bring into a company VS the amount you should be paid (i.e. salary + commission)?

I work for an IT partner / Tech company, and from outbound cold market selling have added over 40 companies to our books, which over the last two years has generated €850,000 revenue, and will likely be in excess of €5 million in the coming years.

How did you set your rent budget when moving in with a partner? I make £125k base (£167k inc bonus), and my boyfriend makes £95k base (£105k inc bonus). I’m used to allocating 30% of my take-home pay to rent, which is about £1800/mo for a charming neighbourhood in zone 1, but my bf’s used to paying closer to £1000/mo to live in zone 6 and balks at the rent prices I think are reasonable given our incomes and locations we want (zone 2). I’m up for partner next year at my Am Law 85-100 firm, where I’m quite happy, other than with respect to comp. With this market paying what it’s paying, I’m getting a lot of interest in other firms. Two Am Law top 20 firms have shown serious interest. I would get market pay, work the same number of hours as current, but partnership is several years away. What’s the right move here? Compensation and supporting my family are top factors.

I've been working in this new law firm for a couple of months and I've been approached by a former client for which I was working for in my old firm. He was basically asking for a fee quote (nothing crazy). We have a meeting planned with that potential client.
My question now is, what type of compensation should I ask to my Partner for (potentially) bringing a client? What amount would be reasonable to ask?

Plz help me out.. I have an offer at Accenture strategy with 29 LPA fixed, with position as Management Consultant. My partner at EY has offered Manager position in the next cycle with good increment and bonus. What should I do??

My partner is always busy doing something with his kids or wife, I end up doing everything in the ‘selling phase’ because multiple times a week there’s a dentist appointment or school thing that he’s at for half the day, then he’s unavailable after 5:00 every day. He doesn’t really do anything until an idea is sold and he has to comp. This has been going on since we were paired up. What’s a nice way to say ‘your family isn’t an excuse to pin all this work on me’?

I just spoke with a KPMG HR person who told me the bonus target for directors is 15%? Is that really true for all directors? What is principal comp like and how hard is it to become an equity partner?

For those in consulting: do you have an equal path to partnership? Is your partner role the same (comp especially) as general consulting?

Question about mentorship: in formal mentorship relationships (for ex. Where your mentor is a partner you work for and there is no personal friendship or friendliness), how often would you expect to meet/ talk to your mentor? And what kind of issues do you think should be discussed or not discussed? For ex. Any tips on how best to go about asking for a raise? Or how to even set that meeting up without causing a stir. I feel confident that I’m owed a good $30k raise and can defend that. But I am a little worried. Seems possible that as soon as I even ask my boss (equity partner) for a meeting to discuss my salary and future goals he may just call me straight in his office and want to shoot it down. Also, I like my firm and don’t intend to leave if I don’t get my ask, at least not anytime soon.
