Hi all - what would you choose between Microsoft Advertising (part of smaller group in this so potential for growth), Slack, or Salesforce?

TC fairly similar, non engineering role (customer success equivalent). I'm thinking about long term growth, possibilities, and options down the road.

Does anyone have recommendations for virtual volunteer events? I work for an nyc based fintech that is hybrid in-office/remote. We’ve done a bunch of virtual happy hour type of events but id love to coordinate something that also gives back. Struggling to find something different/unique from the traditional volunteer programs.

Currently leading a team where we have a subcontractor that is not meeting expectations. Just so happens that he a single parent and has 4 kids, a few of which may be toddlers and he’s watching the kids while he’s “working”—should I cut this guy any slack because of said kids or hold him to the same standards as the rest of the team? Don’t want to sound callous, but you can’t really babysit toddlers and work effectively (so I’ve been told) and it shows. Any thoughts/tips?

I wonder how many women have done better at work this year and faced less bias because WFH Zoom calls enable us to hide our pregnancy longer and deal with the symptoms better. Can't wonder if someone is pregnant if you aren't in the stall next to them hurling. Can't see us looking exhausted on a tiny Zoom window like you could at the desk.

I get paralyzing fear when it comes to speaking up on video calls. I would normally get a bit nervous in public speaking in person, but for whatever reason when I’m speaking into a microphone on a zoom call I just start internally freaking out and my voice gets shaky. Would really appreciate some advice because it makes me feel like there is something wrong with me 😕

Is there any way to have your computer not fall asleep? I don’t want my Skype status to go to “away”. I already have my Skype settings and computer settings to never go to sleep, but it does anyways.

Interviewing for a few positions right now but since things are still mostly remote, I have no idea how to suss out the ‘vibe’ of an agency. I’ve turned down offers before because after getting an in-person tour of a place, I could tell its employees are miserable. How can I tell how it is to work at a place when I’m only ‘meeting’ 1 or 2 people over zoom who are obviously only going to answer ‘work culture’ questions with a positive spin?

Folks that don’t have English as their native language, do you think it harder to understand people over zoom? For me, it is so easy to drift, and suddenly everyone just becomes white noise.
