I work at an AmLaw 50 firm. We’ve been WFH like everyone (in theory... but the reality is people come and go into the office every day by necessity). We’re JUST NOW getting Microsoft teams. What a joke.

I wanted to know, how does accenture take video interviews now. Through Microsoft teams or any other platform?

I don't understand the obsession of always having your camera on on Zoom, especially when people call you out on it in front of a group. Or maybe I'm just weird

Do you wear a suit to a zoom interview? I have in the past only to be met with interviewers wearing casual clothes, from button ups to t-shirts. Are we really getting that casual?

I’m constantly in reviews without my copywriting partner. Yesterday I was honest with her about my frustrations in her. She has a lot of work on her plate but I’m constantly picking up slack to make sure things work easily for her. But I’m sick of being the one in reviews while juggling my own work. This morning my CD and her made subtle remarks about the subject in front of the whole team (side note they do this when they want to talk shit about what other people say).

Hello guys, I'm in a bit of a fix here.

So I got put on a PIP. They specifically said the issue isn't with my skills (they highlighted the same in the official sheet) , but with my 'punctuality'.

When I asked them to elaborate, they mentioned I was late to calls. When I asked which call (I try to take utmost care, but there's zoom, there's a wonky home internet, and so can't be perfect) , they mentioned one call in Jan. No issue with deliverables. (Contd in comments)

Do you concept with your partner almost all the time? I know some people like to brainstorm alone to bring thoughts to their partner. But my new partner constantly wants to brainstorm alone. When I try to build on an idea they bring, they always say “I’ll think about it later” and I say “Why don’t we work it out together now?” I don’t feel like this is a partnership because of the “my ideas” and “their ideas” division. Discouraged because in my interview, I said I loved collaboration over Zoom.

What communication platform does each MBB use? Teams, Slack, etc.? Curious to see what their main interface is

What a heck interview at West Monroe! I am in the 3.5 hours interview session for a Salesforce tech architect role. The first interviewer showed me via zoom a case study designed specifically for management consulting or MBA roles : How to help a retailer to improve their profits? How should I know as a Salesforce TA?

My manager and I usually check in everyday via slack to manage our ongoing projects. But he’s put a weekly 1:1 on the calendar...not sure what I can bring to that meeting or talk about if he already has so much visibility into my work stream. Advice pls! I’m also 3 months into the job

in BCG’s Zoom interview guide they’re suggesting to use Zoom’s whiteboard function now - did or has anyone actually been using this instead of pen/paper?

I want to try and convince my leadership team to get licenses for us to start using Slack in addition to teams – what do you think are some good selling points about Slack to highlight? (Aside from the emoji game being light years ahead)

What is the best way to continue to IM/Skype old coworkers once you leave a firm? I tried Skype and teams but seems the personal accounts don’t hook into business so they don’t get my messages. I realize we could text on phone but since we are computers all day, it’s nice to just IM as we did before. Any thoughts?

I don’t say much on Zoom meetings, but I will nod along with every single person.

By close of eyes is not a reasonable time for any deliverable to be due. You work from home not 24/7. Let’s normalize standard working hours; if work isn’t done within eight to nine hours in day then it’s time for evaluate systems, if all those Zoom calls were necessary and staff utilization.

I work at a midsize firm in a specialized area of law and am planning on submitting my resignation this week. I work with multiple partners, but also have a relationship with the general counsel/HR person. I've read that it's best to let partners know first and resign on a Friday, but I'm having pretty bad mental health issues and don't think it can wait that long. We're half in-person/half WFH. While I would like to do it face-to-face, I might have to settle for a Zoom call. Any advice?

Zoom interview for a job I don’t have any real experience for. They have my resume. Do I cut right to it that I’m not specifically qualified but eager and able to learn? Or skip over it assuming they’ve seen my background and are still interested enough to interview, fake it til you make it style?

I would appreciate any tips on training a paralegal/assistant while managing a heavy (Zoom) court and meeting schedule. My new assistant’s skill set is more narrow than I realized, and there is a lot to teach. I know training will pay off, but if there are some tried and true shortcuts I would love to hear them. My practice is almost exclusively family law.

Word is that Nomura (IB) is telling staff to keep themselves offline on Skype so there isn’t as much FaceTime pressure. Really would like to see this concept adopted by others.

I get the utility of status as a tool, but that use case isn’t what’s pressuring especially junior staff to be always chained to their desk
