Anyone recommend a good webcam for zoom? Thinking of upgrading from my laptop camera.

What’s your go-to Slack message for bugging an exec for the 5th time about something they’re a blocker on?

I don’t feel excited or motivated by work anymore. I switched to a different company last year in the same role but I actively dread work. I work hard and do everything that is asked of me, but I don’t go above and beyond like my other teammates. Some days I just slack. I don’t really know what other industry I’d be interested in, or if it’s just the environment. I’m always scared of making mistakes and getting fired (had a few close calls with mistakes). I don’t know what to do.

I’m looking for a tutor via zoom to learn Italian...has anyone done anything like this before, or have any recommendations? Any and all advice appreciated!

Looking for advice: I have a hearing impairment and have been struggling to hear over zoom calls and in person meetings with masks on. I have been looking for a simple sound amplifier with noise canceling that will connect over Bluetooth so I can use it in everyday conversations with masks and over zoom or on my phone. I was hoping someone might have recommendations on what works for them. Thanks!

Zoom Interview - virtual background or home background? I'm leaning towards sprucing up and having my apartment background without any blurring or virtual (live alone); I feel that it conveys a more genuine/connected vibe.

I’m just making sure I’m still doing things right for our industry. (I’m in advertising). Good friend runs a small manufacturing company. They are out visiting clients, shaking hands. Dropping off donuts and having dinners. This is nuts right? Please tell me it isn’t just me that is still only connecting via zoom. I’m worried because all of those things were a big part of my job before. But not now.

Anyone have insight to a senior product manager at Slack? Base, bonus, equity?

Is it just me or have you also noticed that during the endless back to back zoom/teams meetings, people drift away and not take down action points?

Me: What’s going on?

Slack: Application XYZ has three IPs assigned. We need forty IPs.

Several times a day my manger emails me to check available time slots for the client on the client laptop, then send her their availability. Then she responds with what time to schedule a WebEx for, then has me send her the WebEx link for her to put in her email to the client. Wouldn’t it just be faster for her to do this? Sometimes I have to start meetings, make her the host and then drop because they don’t want too many of us on the call. I know I’m the lowest on the team but seems silly

Does anyone have a good way to utilize Microsoft Teams for tracking cases?

So lesson learned. Do not use Barney gif from How I met your Mother when IMing on Microsoft teams. Totally forgot the character persona on that show and the gif... was a great reminder.... 🤡

Has anyone done zoom/video interviews using their work computer? I know we’re allowed to use it for personal calls - just don’t know if they track who the convo is with (I.e. the sender address is another company). The camera on my personal laptop isn’t good so I can’t use it.

What to wear on a Skype interview? For a smaller boutique firm?

Ideas how to be a supportive friend to a single guy living alone and avoiding all social interaction because of covid? He was such a close friend before, but now we do zoom hangouts less and less often. I'm married and don't know what single folks are going thru right now but I'm truly worried about him. I've dropped off goodies and suggested safer activities like masked hikes or bike rides but he's not comfortable with that, and looks like we can't get vaccinated for awhile yet.

Some of my clients have had a blurred zoom background. It’s definitely not static; the background blur moves as their cameras move around too. Anyone know what this is?!

Senior manager wants everyone on the team to open a skype chat session and shares screen with him for the day so he can monitor what everybody is doing. Is it ok to ask him send this request in writing?

My work partner has a toddler and frequently misses meetings or goes on mute due to kid-related things. They also have to disappear around 6pm for a few hours bc of kid. Even if/when they can chat later in the evening, they’re usually pretty checked out or I just don’t feel like brainstorming at 10pm. Long story short, I feel like I’m picking up a lot of the slack due to their inability to be around, but I also feel bad because obviously parenting is hard. Can anyone relate?

Anybody else tired of brands jumping on cultural memes/events and then thinking they totally crushed it? Example, Mikes Hard Lemonade doing a video with the lawyer who recently went viral for accidentally using a cat filter on his zoom call. Aren’t we beyond these type of gimmicks yet?

How early should you join a zoom interview? In person I would usually show up around 5-10 mins early but not sure whats the norm for video interviews
