I applied to an investment bank and quoted a fixed CTC range of x to x+5 LPA. HR said they would record it as x to x+1 LPA due to budget constraints, and interviews proceeded. Do HRs typically keep some buffer at the initial stage for negotiation?

Hi Fishes,
This is my 1st switch after 5.5 years from TCS, I'm over comfortable in tcs.
When I decided to switch, I was ok and I got 160% hike. But now when I have only 1 week left in my notice period, I am a nervous wreck.
I want to back out of all these and remain in TCS itself. My family is not happy with my decision. Why am I like this?
Anyone up for chit chat?
