I’m mid-level in my HR career at my current company and an upcoming Master’s graduate. Studying for my SHRM-CP too. How did you make the transition to that next level? What skills do you need, or is it really just based on YOE (I am the youngest compared to my teammates, many who have 10+ YOE)? I feel like career pathing is not very clear at my company. Each time I ask for guidance on this from my manager, I get told they’ll look into it.... would love some external mentorship and thoughts 🙏🏼
Hello please can I find Victoria’s boot camp I keep hearing about this being great to study for shrm exam but I can’t find it anywhere thank you
To those who have several years of experience ion TA: Do you think staying in the campus recruiting space limits you? Should one try to get exposure to other HR areas for the long run?
First time founder - would you recommend square, stripe or something else for purchases between $150-$10k or what alternatively?
Workday HELP! I need an amazing consultant or contact who can help us fix our workday woes. I’m not in charge of workday but I’m determined to fix it. We have massive issues with the complexity and ever changing security/permissions/workflows implemented by our system analysts. Every couple of months it changes and we all have to relearn simple tasks again. The analysts try to blame the users but I know it’s more than that.
Any female MM/ENT AEs with SaaS or Fintech experience looking to make a move? Series D company positioned to IPO in 2 years. Would be wild if this works lol
Looking for ideas on how other companies are celebrating and recognizing diversity holidays like LGBT pride month Juneteenth black history month women’s history month etc.Not just days off
Are you or have you been the sole HR person at the company? What are the pros & cons? I haven’t been, but a recruiter reached out with an opportunity to be one. They currently use the parent company’s HR but are buying themselves out to be a stand alone firm. TIA!
You’re constantly showing up for everyone else, but who’s showing up for you? I started an initiative to coach HR/people leaders because I know what it’s like to be doing all the things for everyone else with little support or focus on your own well-being, growth and development. It’s a lonely game! I’d be delighted to create the space to make you a priority. Would love to offer a free session, or simply connect: https://www.chrisrollins.me/peopleleaders.
I am struggling with the fact that I have 13 years of HR experience in one capacity or another, along with a bachelors degree and my PHR designation yet companies say “I’m not qualified or they ghost me when I apply for HR openings. I am experienced in all aspects of HR. How are people with little to no experience coming right out of college obtaining higher level roles than I have currently? It makes my passion for the field just go away.
If you are feeling sick or something during the day and WFH, do you feel comfortable napping it off and then getting back to work and working late if needed? I have friends that say this is totally normal and okay but I feel weird about it and can never actually rest to feel better if I do lay down
Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks
Conflict of interest. Can a company find out if you start to work for another company? Also, is it really a conflict of interest if you work for both companies in the same position, but the companies are in a different field (e.g. pharmaceutical and social media)?
Would my bosses let me move to work in a different state? I work as an internal consultant within KPMG, working for the firm within the internal HR team. I have been with KPMG for 5 months but I am wanting to move back home to be with my family - on the other side of the country. There’s only a 2 hour Timezone difference and I’d make sure to work on current time. My line manager I report to lives in another state to me anyway - and it seems to work well for her. Am I pushing my luck to ask?
Does anyone have any creative suggestions for providing role clarity within teams. We work diligently to maintain job descriptions and communicate team changes broadly, but our employees are still craving some sort of additional reference point of how positions interact with one another. We have Sharepoint and we’re thinking of putting more job info there next to peoples names and titles. Look forward to suggestions!
@EYP professionals was wondering if associates are still being hired for 2021. Very interested in the practice and an M&A role.
Best tapas bar? Specifically somewhere with boquerones and on the west? The place I usually go to, las ramblas, is temporarily closed 🥲
What are some good cities to visit via flight for a weekend from Dallas and not in the south? Will also likely be a solo trip. I'm also a small woman so safe areas would be a plus
Graduated in 2014. Make 150k as a manager now. Looking for Corporate Strategy roles in f500. What should I shoot for for total comp?
Does anyone else feel like they are ALWAYS sick? Any immune system tips from the frequent travelers out there? (I don’t, but figure that’s the prime audience to learn the tricks from.)
I burned out It took Covid for me to realize just how stressed I was on a day to day basis. Thankfully, moved into industry and got help from doctor and therapy and am beginning to recover. I hope you all take care of yourselves and don't have to go through what I did. We are all type A personalities, however and I feel that because we are, our instinct is to push through the pain. Just writing this to hopefully get you all to check in on yourselves.
Are there any CA family law firms looking to contract out work (legal research, drafting briefs, disclosures, forms, discovery, etc.)? I have over 6 years of experience and am well-versed in family code and case law. (My attorney is on family leave so we don't have the workload I'm used to right now, and my husband might be switching jobs with a pay cut, so it wouldn't hurt to earn some extra money.)
What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re feeling overwhelmed/stuck? Asking for a friend…
I am interviewing to lateral into big law from a smaller firm. Is there anything I should focus on and/ or stress in my interview? I would appreciate any thoughts or suggestions.
Sending LinkedIn messages to recruiters and not getting any responses. I thought this would be a good way to get me in the system (referral maybe?) but am I just wasting my time? Should I just apply online asap?
My SO and I will be long distance for 2 years while I’m in business school. I will be in the Midwest and they’re on the west coast. I’m super nervous because I haven’t done long distance before. We’re planning on 1 week/month (or something like that) of having them with me on campus. I will join them for holiday breaks. Can anyone offer advice? I really, really want to make this work.
PwC - for CRTs, do they look at your utilization for the FY or performance year? I.e., is June a lost month as far as utilization goes?
For those of you that have recently joined McKinsey & Company how long did it take for your background check to process? I want to have a timeline of when I should put in my two weeks.
Working on my wine brand and the biggest hurdle I have at the moment is shipping. I eat almost half of the cost, but people are still deterred from ordering because of the cost. What would you recommend to assist with this issue. I've already raised the prices of the wine as well.
5 years post-MBA and all my classmates are VPs in industry or Principals in consulting/IB (some are even Partners/MDs already). I sat in the same classes with these folks for 2 years — probably outperformed some of them academically. Yet, here I am continuing to struggle with my student debt payments, hoping that “Uncle Joe” forgives 20% of it. I’ll never have that kind of earning potential because I didn’t come from the “right background” pre-MBA.
So I’ve been looking for some ways to make more easy money for side things like vacations, entertainment, etc. Well this family is paying me $500 to stay at their house for a few days to feed their cat. I could get used to this.
