FYI, Paul Hastings in California is requiring all associates to be in the office everyday moving forward starting Labor Day.
Paul Hastings people in DC - do associates have windows in the new office? I know NY associates all have interior offices.
Anyone know wfh protocol (as in after everyone is vaccinated can we still wfh) at Paul Hastings or DLA? Thanks!
To those in Palo Alto, what's the reputation amongst the BigLaw firms there? Thoughts on Wilson Sonsini or Paul Hastings? Interviewing at the moment and trying to get a sense of the on the ground …
Paul Hastings folks, does that return to the office memo make it seem like we’ll be fully operational (5 days in office), or is there still a chance we’ll have remote work flexibility?
Anyone else get the recruiting email from Paul Hastings just now? Any word on if they’ll be ok with a full-remote associate?
How soon is too soon to be preparing for a lateral move? I did my 1L summer internship in a niche area of securities law, loved it, took courses on it. I decided I wanted to explore securities law a little more broadly and not to pigeonhole myself. The firm I’m at is great—doing sec lit—but has zero work in that niche area that I liked. I’m afraid that I am passing on a passion, and I don’t want to get too “old” for a firm to take me on if I have zero experience in a specialty area. Advice? Thx
Solo who started pre-pandemic and as a result never transitioned into a traditional office setting. I enjoy work from home and it keeps overhead obviously low. I can afford to move into an office now (and planned to do so last spring before the shutdown). I find myself hesitating to make the leap. I’ve found most clients prefer zoom consultations or house calls. I practice in PI and cannabis. Curious to hear others’ thoughts on the necessity of a brick and mortar post pandemic. Thanks.
Question for you sales and saas guys. I work for a fast growing startup and we are billing around 200 K a month. I am in charge of the sales team and our CFO mandates that we collect ACH payment information on every agreement. The problem with this is we have to reel in micro deposit amounts from customers and it feels like herding cats. I’ve worked for three great tech companies and I’ve never had ACH nor have I ever paid for services with ACH. Is this a totally dated process?
Anyone here a member of Revenue Collective? Is it worth it? What kind of value have you gotten out of it if so? Thanks!
Firm announced flexible come and go as you see fit approach to coming back to office. Partner I work for said I need to be in office 4-5 days a week anyway. Thoughts?
Any strategies or resources you could recommend for getting rid of the dreaded annual performance review (or at least lessening the dread) and creating a more effective year round performance feedback system? Our review is currently tied to our end of year bonuses and merit increases, so not sure I could get rid of it entirely. This would be for hourly and management employees, all working on-site.
Need to define diverse talent metrics to create a scorecard. Challenge is that the available data is based on opting in/out of self identification, that data point can change dramatically YOY. Any recommendations on metrics and scorecard?
Hello, We are a growing company of 250 employees. We are considering Performance Management solutions. I would love get feedback on anyone's experience with any of the below solutions? Kazoo Engagedly Perform Yard CultureAmp Thanks!!
What’s the most petty thing you’ve seen a firm do to an attorney who is lateraling out? Mine just revoked my renewal paperwork and payment for 2021-22 bar dues, even though they’ve already submitted it I’ll still be an employee when they’re due (7/1). Money’s not the issue. They can dock the $400 from my final check for all I care. The administrative hassle is the petty part, and it’s so inconsequential that it genuinely made me chuckle. I don’t even blame them. Kinda respect the hustle tbh.
If you are at a big law firm that is not increasing pay according to market this year, should you look elsewhere? Is that a bad sign?
When a law firm is looking for a 33/34 act attorney does it need an one working primarily with public companies? Or private companies as well? I’m a corporate and securities attorney, all my clients are private EGC and PE/ VC/ hedge funds, I usually ensure that they are exempted from 33/34 acts
What’s the more persuasive federal authority? 1. District Court opinion in the same state but different district, or 2. Circuit Court opinion from a different circuit.
Why do lawyers love saying “and the like”
I’m not happy where I’m at, my abilities aren’t being maximized as I’m spread thin, and I know I’m being undervalued. Recently graduated and in property management w/ 3-4 years sales experience. Currently on the hunt for Sales/Account Management roles leaning more towards consumer goods, then tech. Any advice?
When drafting an MSJ is it better to address the ways that OC might overcome it; or is it better to just generally say why you’re entitled to MSJ and avoid tackling the finer issues that your MSJ presents?
Which books would you recommend to a product counel for tech startup about strategy, management, and leadership?
I’m looking for a screening tool that will assess a candidate’s proficiency with MS-Teams. Would anyone know if there is such a thing that exists?
GPS is available. I’ll be giving PwC a good rating, especially after the bonus and the time off in July. Who’s with me?

Looking for pointers to crack the AWS SAA certification. Currently doing mock exams from Tutorialsdojo and in the 78-80% range. Is this a good estimation of preparedness for the exam?
Good Afternoon Fishes! So strangely enough, I am got interviewed with Deloitte USI, for a US Client.. but I will be receiving an offer from Deloitte India and will be on a long-term contract with Deloitte USI for the client. Can someone help me make sense of this arrangement? I am obviously interested in the project since it's an interesting role, but if I am unable to make sense of this arrangement. Can someone please shed some light on the pros & cons of this?!
2nd year associate here. Has anyone made a jump from a boutique firm to big law? I found out that I’m a front runner for a gig with an Amlaw 100. I never thought I’d have this chance having graduated from an unranked law school and still being so junior. Even though the firm asked if I’d be willing to start as a 1st year given my lack of litigation experience, it’s still a monumental upgrade/ jump. I’m nervous about the culture shock and whether I’ll cut it. Could really use some advice!
I have worked in the HR space for the past 9 years, however most of my experience has been in Talent Acquisition. I do want to move into a People Operations/Generalist role. I’m planning to go for a HR certificate but unsure if I should go for a PHR or SHRM. Please advise!
Currently working in industry as a fund accountant, and my employment agreement says I must give three months notice before being allowed to move to a different firm. Is this normal? I feel like thats excessive. Even in the Big 4 a manager must give 1 month notice.
To the cat lady who thought it was a good idea to bring your pet ON the flight from Newark to NOLA, you're insane. And your cat hates you for this.
I don’t think I can stomach sleep training 😖 Any motivational stories, tips, or other experiences? Baby is 8 weeks old.
Thinking of trying to lateral from a midsize to big law in the midst of the salary raises. Before doing so, wondering how bad it reallly is for the associates? Are the increases coming because everyone is drowning or what? For context: midlevel, real estate attorney. TIA!
I'll be financing ~40K USD for my sibling in Canada for MBA. The payment is bulk due to Visa requirements which ask for all first year tuition to be paid upfront. We don't have options in the home country to finance. Hence out of pocket. Are there risks I'm not seeing? Is this a financially dumb move? Any tax implications? Please help, I'm lost
Alaskan Air v Delta question. I'm based in Seattle and will be doing a lot of domestic USA travel (likely mostly to Vegas). If the only criteria we're examining is the best point reward system for use for leisure domestic and international travel (also considering use of partner airlines in the case of Alaskan Air), which would you choose?
Recent grad (1 year out of undergrad) joining as Project Manager @ Bank of America (GT&O)…any advice on appropriate salary and bonus asks? NJ/NYC area!
If a man lies about his age for an entire year of a relationship, what does that make him? (He’s 10 years older than me...he claimed he lied because he married for a green card. But what does age and marriage have to do with each other???)
For those who work in black box comp big law - how do your firms adjust when the market raises the typical scale? Do you get a bigger raise at reviews or do they do an adjustment eventually?
Anyone familiar with MD+MBA programs? Left PwC for specialty firm, realizing I love life sciences and I have read medical publications for fun even in college. Likewise I love business
