Williams & Connolly Discussions

I don't get the Williams & Connolly apologists. There is 0 reason they are under market and there is no benefit to being there you can't get at a firm that doesn't underpay you.

Does anyone have insight into working at Williams & Connolly? Hours? Culture?

On trial this week in the downtown courthouse where I used to clerk. Every lunch spot I used to go to is out of business, safe for the corporate chains. Can't understate what optional WFH has done to these businesses and cities. As a parent with young kids obviously WFH is a lifesaver, so I can't throw stones,, but maybe for those who aren't caretakers having to come back in is a small sacrifice for saving these downtowns.

Is there any resources someone can point me to about the potential legal issues and more information from an HR perspective about contingent employees (temps, contract workers, part-time workers) versus normal FTE’s?

I’m working on a project for an HR class and finding good sources with real evidence about this from SHRM and news publications has been rough. Thanks!

Any opinions between traditional lockstep payscale and modified lockstep (where there is a range of salaries per level)? Is there too much discretion for the latter? Regional law firm in Northern California is considering this change.

I’m 67 yo- practiced solo since ‘94 and in a small local office since 2016 with cheap cheap rent. Primarily remote from home for last 2 yrs. Hubby retired this year and my work schedule totally changed with us having breakfast and other stuff until noon. In fact, my enthusiasm to work has petered out. Also office/insurance costs eat up most if not all income. Trying to figure out about how long to do this semi-retirement. Anyone else been in this situation? Kind of hard to say I’m done.

Does anyone have a name for what I'm looking for? Essentially, I'm looking for a resource to give to clients that really need to assess their current benefits and pay structure (and pay equity) in comparison to other organizations in the market and to provide the results and a roadmap of how to get where they need to be in order to retain and attract talent. Something like an HR Turnaround Consultant but I'm sure there is a better name?

Ever feel disadvantaged by being the "new guy" at the office?

You're not alone: over 70% of new hires feel this way.

What if I told you it's your best launch pad for success?

I'm about to tell you why you have the absolute advantage.

Every disadvantage has its advantage.

When starting a new job, there will always be disadvantages to being new.

You may need to familiarize yourself with the software or the company's processes.

You may need to get used to how your new team works

Anyone know of any part time work from home opportunities? I have experience in the past as an SDR for an insurance firm.

Leaving small law as a near-4th year lit associate who’s also outside GC to several companies and going to a much larger firm in a larger city to do transactional M&A. Where can I find good resources to learn my job? What advice do you ha? What kind of autonomy will I have (for reference, I do files by myself with no oversight. If I disappeared from my small law office for 2 days, nobody would question it because I’m always out doing something like helping site plan for corporate client out.
