It's completely appropriate to ask them to stop commenting on your "look " it's none of their business.
It may help to just set up a call to discuss it. While you could keep it light and ask for their beauty and fashion advice, it is important they hear that it is not helpful to receive criticism during group calls.
I have an old boss that would talk about my “unique” style pretty consistently. I had a shaved head and dressed appropriately (no cleavage, never too much leg, etc.). It was annoying to be sure and there was definitely a negative tone to it. If it makes you uncomfortable, you should tell them. I wish I would have. ☺️ He was the worst boss I ever had.
I would just keep repeating that my fashion advisor/stylist has approved so I'm good. Otherwise, what is good for the goose is good for the gander. They keep it up- just do the same back. If they still don't get it, just make a game of it. yes, Im petty.
It's called IDGAF-chic. If anyone at my company tried poking fun at people's appearances repeatedly, they'd be the one getting complaints.
I would snipe back about how annoying they are lol
exactly. it would be some version of "here we go with this sh*t again"
Start recording the calls, saying you want to be able to go back and fact check yourself or something innocent sounding. Might end their behavior, and you have a record if they don’t stop. And yes I agree first a direct conversation with them about ending the comments. It’s difficult to set boundaries with an immature or prejudice person, I recommend rehearsing and writing down your statement to them so you don’t get flustered or defensive, even getting angry probably won’t help right now unfortunately.
Just set up a 1:1 directly.
I work in a local language that is my 4th language. I speak it well but with an accent and the occasional mistake. Some of my colleagues would always ask me in larger meetings if I wanted that we speak in English. I addressed it separately and kindly with them, they understood and we moved on.
