Straight milage, but I can’t say I’m doing the most traveling either. If it was a lot then I’d have to reconsider a lot. Wear and tear is probably the biggest one using your personal vehicle. Don’t mind it for once in a while, but would need better compensation if it was very frequent.
Agreed, I know some sales reps have gas cards or get car reimbursements or heck I know one that has both (ridiculous) and they travel less than I do. I was just curious on what others are experiencing.
I rarely travel these days (people still want sales reps to visit them at work?), but when I do, my company pays pretty good mileage, plus my real expenses like gas and food and whatnot. I submitted a report recently, and they paid me something like $80 just to drive to the airport and back as part of my trip. It's not a long drive.
The only way I'd be okay with driving a ton of miles would be if I had a company car or if they increased my comp enough so that I could effectively just buy or lease a side car dedicated to work. I don't want to put that kind of mileage on my personal vehicle. I like it too much to beat it up just for a job. Not to mention insurance and everything else.
