What makes more money IT Audit or IT GRC?
Hey guys. I have been applying to Amex for the past 1 year. Tried applying on the portal, through referrals and even hr consultants reached me regarding the roles since I have a relevant profile. But not once have I been shortlisted or called for an interview. What could be the problem?
PS: I have gotten calls from every other company for the same profile but not amex. Can't be a problem with the profile. Seems something dicey which I'm not aware of.American Express

My director does this and it’s some sick power play that’s so cringe to watch. I hate it
Jesse, I understand “strongly encouraged” but cannot imagine a scenario in which a power play doesn’t come off as a crappy episode of The Office 😢
Video calls are replacements for in person meetings. Unless you are sick - turn on your camera. It’s important. No one cares if you have a messy bun today.
No, its not important. What makes you think it is?
Yes. I don’t see what being on camera has to do with anything. I would still be just as attentive.
I hate when people do that.
Obnoxious and demand, not our culture. We trust everyone's choice to be on or off. Personally, I like the connection given the state of being confined in our home offices. I'm not offended, perhaps suggest a no video day or two of the week. signed #nameinlights
No one EVER “NEEDS” to be on camera. It’s just a micromanager’s pet peeve. They need to control and manipulate every one. It’s pretty much an acknowledgement that the leader doesn’t trust her/his team. Period.
I have no problem with people having their camera off if they’re participating. The problem is when people turn off their cameras, mute their audio and say nothing for the whole meeting. It’s obvious they checked out or are working on something else. Had a client ask if we’re going to bill them for the hour for all the people who didn’t do anything. Not a fun conversation.

Maybe ask yourself why are those ppl even in the mtg. Seems thats the fault of the organizer for including them. If they don't do or say anything they don't need to be there.
The generation gap in this thread…
No. not really. For me it's actually refreshing to put a face to a new name during these times since the office hasn't been open in 1.5 years.
I mean okay so lemme see: option 1. Camera on, be seen while WFH or option 2. be in the office and camera on 🤔 absolutely, all in on option 1. Just my logic.

Or my fav. Be in the office camera off
I feel perfectly comfortable leaving my camera off even if prompted
To me it feels a bit like the last gasp of old school ‘I want everyone here’ style. Work with someone who is very that. They will stop a meeting until every camera is on. To me, it doesn’t bother me either way. I put my camera on but I’m. It gassing someone who doesn’t.
