Anyone here ever been to RCA? Is it worth it ?
🥱🥱 you can’t never trust nobody

I am a graduating student who just got offered 65k for a solution analyst role at Deloitte USDC (Data Engineering Focus). From reading previous posts it seems to be a lot of negative thoughts surrounding the USDC, but straight out of college is this a good opportunity?
I'm looking to gain as much experience as possible out of college in an IT role and wondering what exit opportunities may be in place a year or two down the road if there is little/slow progression.
Any Advice?

Two weeks straight is aggressive even with limited leave.

I wholeheartedly agree that 2 week vacations are more meaningful and necessary to travel certain distances, but have also worked in firms where that only regularly occurs for honeymoons. Otherwise you might get away with that once every five years or so. Depends on firm/practice/market. YMMV.
I’ve never taken a two week uninterrupted vacation in my entire career
At my first firm, associates didn’t even think it was worth taking the vacation if it wasn’t two weeks….
I take 2 weeks every 6 months to ensure I don’t burn out. Hasn’t affected hours or my reputation. Just make sure you get friendly with people in your class or similar who can provide coverage and volunteer to cover for them when you can. Building goodwill goes a long way in letting you have uninterrupted time off. That doesn’t mean you can get away with never looking at your phone but it does mean that the substantive work is off your plate. Also, train your firm and the people you work with to expect this from you. Good luck!
Only time I’ve ever seen some take a full two week vacation is for a honeymoon.
When I retire I will enjoy two consecutive weeks off the grid. I’ll get drunk on legit wine every night. I won’t be bothered by clients or work demands.
Until then I will fantasize about it.
You aren’t promised tomorrow. Go enjoy it now
I think it really depends on your hours. I lateralled and took a two week vacation after two months of work. I didn’t think twice.
But if your hours are low for the year (relative to your peers) it will look worse if you then also take a long vacation.
Every firm I've been at I took two weeks of vacation each year (sometimes 2 + 1). No one batted an eye on the first one, I got fired from the second and I'm still going strong on the third. I think it's all a matter of firm culture, timing and hours.
At a firm, never. I wasn’t even allowed to take the parental leave I was entitled to. But in house, yes. I took the entire month of December off in 2024, though the whole company was closed for the last week between Christmas and New Years anyway.
I’ve taken 3 weeks and made hours
Yes lol
I’ve done it at a boutique litigation firm
I am at a boutique lit firm. I do not do this because I work too much (trying to fix this issue), but every other associate at my firm does this at least once a year.
I usually space out vacations to a few days to a week at a time. Two weeks would just lead to an overwhelming backup of work. Definitely take some vacation though, peer pressure or no. Time off work is super important to not burning out.
