Hi I've joined Harman in May but hasn't been assigned to any project yet. I've asked hr and reporting manager they said they're working on it and there's nothing to be worried about However I just want to know if there's anything I should be concerned about what's the bench policy? Massachusetts 🥺
Lmao quit asap
I want to so bad! I got bills to pay so I've been job hunting. But you know it's a struggle out there. Have debated going back to minimum just to free up more time to focus on my own work.
For 3 years I do the same stuff for free but nobody want to hire me, not for $20 per hour, not for $15 per hour… :(
Oh gosh don't do stuff for free no matter what!
I'm in the exact same situation as yourself. I've been at my current job for over 5yrs making $60k. They require the same amount of skills and more. The worst part is, that they laid off the majority of our creative department early last year. They figured they could get away with one designer (myself) to handle the amount of tasks that a team handled prior. There has been no pay bump since this and just higher expectations... Definitely been looking for a new job, but for now I do what I got to do to pay my bills.
You would think. But after discussing a raise with them, they shot back with "let's track your performance throughout the year. If things go well we can discuss more responsibilities and pay." Lol. That conversation was the last straw for me before I began sending out my resume.
This 100% warrants a salary increase discussion with your supervisor. Put information from your post into ChatGPT & ask it to give you valid points to bring up when you ask for this salary increase. If I were you, I’d update your resume and portfolio and start applying to new jobs. Reach out to any friends or connections you have etc. The overall job market is tough right now. At the most your current company might just give you a $1K-$5K salary increase. You’ll be better off getting a new job. You have a great skillset + 5 yrs of experience, you could be making way more than $60K a year, you’re definitely being underpaid.
I’m located in south Florida & I’ve been looking for a new job for the last 2 years I’ve done a ton of interviews & nothing has worked out. I stayed at a toxic company for 3 years that was severely overworking me, undervaluing me & disrespecting me both to my face & behind my back. They piled on responsibilities with no salary increase. No performance reviews either. I started out making $55K 3 years ago & got one salary increase to $60K once the only other graphic designer left & I have been stuck at $60K for 2 yrs already. I asked for a salary increase a couple months ago & never got told yes or no, but started to hear through the grapevine disrespectful things the CEO was saying about me. I verbally told just my immediate supervisor I was resigning soon, and the CEO turned around and threatened to withhold pay, made me work all day and night, & terminated me at the end of the next day.
I hope they grant you a salary increase or at the very least, some sort of bonus. Definitely be on the lookout for a new job, because your current job is just going to keep piling on responsibilities and it doesn’t seem that there’s any recognition for your hard work.
Thank you for this response. I'm hoping to present the work I've done by the new year and get a raise. If not, I'll honestly just quite right there. Then I can focus on polishing my portfolio and really show off my skillet. I've been finding it EXTREMELY hard to put effort into my portfolio while doing the most at my job. Hope things work out for you too!
