Been working at an agency my whole career and the breakneck speed of work stresses me out. Would love to hear about the day in the life of someone in-house. I can’t decide if I want to switch environments or just pivot my career away from marketing at this point.

Try the switch, you might enjoy it. In-house is not for everyone but for people who enjoy the ownership, it’s a blessing. I’ve done both and I can’t imagine going back to agency even for more senior roles.

My experience has been agency SEO, then to in-house SEO, then recently back to agency SEO. There are pros and cons, and both experiences will vary depending on leadership, access to resources, support, etc.

My in-house experience was with a startup, and I was the only SEO. Instead of simply making recommendations as I was accustomed to, I now had to implement my recommendations, which was daunting at first, but I got over that quickly. From that experience, I felt I had learned more in a year than I did in 3 years at my previous agency.

I'd recommend at least giving it a shot and seeing what's out there. I had a significant amount of satisfaction from being able to do more for 1-2 brands because 100% of my time was focused on them.

However, the lack of other SEO/marketing experts in an organization means you'll likely need to rely on other professionals in your network for advice. It's a lot easier to have support and different opinions when you are on a team vs. being the only expert.

For the foreseeable future, I can't imagine not working in an agency environment, where challenges are fresh, clients are unique, the pace is more to my liking, and I'm surrounded by SEOs that know their stuff. But that's just me.

I was at an agency but am now in product mgmt at capital one. I haven’t looked back.

While I’m in product mgmt now, there are marketing roles that offer similar benefits at Cap1. For comparison, when I was right out of college in 2017, I made 50k in NYC at an ad agency. Just 4 years later, im making 130k with far better WLB and awesome co workers.

I will say, as someone that’s been both in-house and at an agency, the pace of work difference is a real thing. I prefer in-house because I think it’s more reasonable to do work you’re proud of within a given timeline. However, I do miss the environment, excitement, and camaraderie of working at an agency. I haven’t experienced that since leaving.

Any advice on a first year trying to transition from family law to in-house? I always thought family law was my path, and used to enjoy it, but it’s not the direction I want to head in anymore. I don’t think I even want to continue with any litigation work. I’m having a hard time finding firms that are hiring entry level associate positions that don’t require at least 3+ years experience in-house. Should I start at a business law firm to get experience working with corporations first?

I have an offer from Capco, it was much lower then I expected for the SC level EA at £80k. I'm at a stable role at a bank with a great WLB. My wife is a front line work. Though the travel costs and child care does not warrant the base salary Capco Should I take the hit and join capco?

I am interviewing at a Production Studio and it’s going well. The majority of my experience is agency side. They mentioned base salary with commission, as they want to see growth in the next 3-5 years. There has been no talk of salary yet. What does a base salary for an EP with commission usually look like in this role? What should I be asking for? I don’t want to give up my current salary, but I think this job would be such a great fit for me. Advice?

Hi all! I've got an SEO question I'm hoping someone can help with:
How do you choose keywords to target in a blog when you're writing a blog that appears on multiple country specific versions of a given website? Do you use a mix of keywords from each region/country in one blog, or create different versions of the same blog with slight keyword differences based on the country?
Feel free to DM me if you want! thanks in advance from an entry level content marketer. :)
