Apply anywhere you think you would enjoy working at. I am a new grad (graduated May 2022) and got into home infusion, love the job currently (I applied to it cause I knew I liked ambulatory infusion centers and it wasn’t too far removed). Pay is also good, I get paid ~130-140k depending on how often I’m on call and how often I have to do something when on-call. I don’t regret not getting residency, because I ended up in a specialty I really enjoy anyway.
Just a pharmacist job. Retail is fine. You're fresh out of school with no experience, so any experience is good while you build your resume. I would aim for chain/grocery pharmacies as they'll pay you better than independent ones
Just apply to anywhere you want to work! There is no harm in applying. I would say the new grad is not stuck to choose retail pharmacy (although it is enticing); I know Pharmacists straight out of school who worked for insurance companies doing prior authorizations. As long as the resume is amazing, they will at least interview! So you interested in nuclear pharmacy? Apply! Interested in prior authorizations? Apply to an insurance company! Interested in working in the hospital? Apply! Have an exceptional resume!
Hire Level Coaching; I’m not sure if they are still revamping resumes any longer but the company is based out of Michigan
Also, tap into your network. Get in touch with old professors if they have any advice or connection.
Just didn’t care that much about the academics but more interested in the actual business of pharmacy
