DLA Piper: I’m very interested in lateraling here but I’m about to go on parental leave until March. I had a recruiter reach out and I’m trying to decide whether to throw my hat in now or wait until after leave. Does anyone have any insight into their litigation needs? It seems like they’re recruiting across the board for litigators, so I’m afraid they might not be looking to hire more next year.

Couldn’t you just throw in your hat now and say I can’t start until March? Or end parental leave a little early? I am ending my parental leave a few weeks early for my dream job. I also have a weird situation where my partner stays home, though, so it would not force us into daycare earlt.

I’m afraid the interviewing process will get too complicated when the baby arrives. I’d hate to miss the opportunity because I’m exhausted and trying to recover from giving birth

In our group at DLA, we have people who just got hired to start next year. I think you can interview now and ask for a March start time - or at least bring it up in the interview process

They’d be fine starting you in March I’d think. What office are you looking at?

Currently I’m in Philly (but I am barred in 2 other jurisdictions where they have offices)

I tried asking this in my own bowl with no responses, so seeing if other consultants have run into this situation. I’m on parental leave, I got an offer for another firm, great opportunity and pay. How does one go about a resignation mid-leave when you would start the new job before the leave ends? Two weeks notice or just say I am not returning effective the day of the new job? Any things to consider besides potentially repaying the employer healthcare premium?

Anyone have advice for advancing in your current role? My co-worker was hired in at manager level but somehow “proved” he was actually doing director level work and got a title promotion and salary increase in less than a year. I also went above and beyond my job as well (covering for him for a month while he was away on paternity leave) while taking on other projects outside of my job title and got zip—no raise or recognition. Any advice would be appreciated!

What happens when we pray is absolutely incredible. The Holy Spirit within us interprets our groans & our prayers to our advocate Jesus Christ who petitions God the Father on our behalf.
