Do you have a Workplace attire Policy? When I first joined the organisation i'm currently working in, there was a very strict written policy around no jeans.

Over the years, apparently someone took it out and didn't tell anyone. I came in wearing red jeans one day - didn't realise I was wearing jeans - for me it was bottoms that looked cute with the top I was wearing. My manager pulled me aside and said you can't wear those jeans - its against policy. I thought I was gonna get raked that day.

Opened the policy document and just froze...

He wore jeans for a week in spite after that!

Ours is "dress your day" which is unclear, but flexible at the same time I guess.

Dress my day? Hmmm is that a challenge? Should be dressed up based on how your previous day went .. that would be carnage

Dress codes are outdated but there needs to be something in them about “professionalism” or clients won’t be able to tell you from them!

At a facility I used to work at they’d say, “no hoodies” inless it’s for religious beliefs.

I thought it was a dumb policy especially as a NOC worker who got cold at night after 3AM. Plus, who really wears hoodies for religious reasons?

I always think that's what lanyards or badges are for.

I am only 4 months into being a surgical coordinator. I love the position itself however I am struggling to adapt into my new work environment. My position puts me in a place where I need to interact with my new coworkers but they are not as welcoming as I expected. There is also another surgical coordinator however I have come to find from other staff that there is a long history of her running other staff away and not fully training other surgical coordinator staff properly. Any suggestions?

How do you deal with stub years who are exceptionally bad? I’m not talking about general cluelessness which is completely expected and understandable, but turning in work product riddled with incomprehensible, grammatically incorrect sentences that would fail middle school English. This is honestly the worst I’ve ever seen. Would you just avoid in the future or raise this with a partner? I don’t even know how to talk to this person about this…

What is the advice on what feedback to leave for a peer who really sucks at everything y'all have worked together on? It's about the time where everyone on my team requests feedback from each other and I'm nervous for it coming up. My manager knows that everything I've worked w her on I end up doing 90% of the work when it's meant to be split so it is a known issue. We're both at level 3 so are genuinely peers. She seems like a nice person but i have 0 positive work feedback tbh

Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with discrimination as an Asian in the workplace? In my company it seems like it’s a white boys club where and they just promote white ppl because they’re white. And then they have a lower bar for promotions for minorities (traditional minorities likes Hispanics and African Americans). Meanwhile they make Asians do all the work. I am not generalizing that this is how it is everywhere but it definitely is that way in my workplace. Any advice?
