Yes it’s called clutter anxiety. You probably can’t function well in a disorganized or unclean place.
I do this as well and actually had the same reflection earlier today, as we just moved and are expecting our second child in June. For me, it appears to be a “control” thing and is similar (in my opinion) to staying up late as a way to exert control over my schedule. Probably not helpful, but wanted to let you know you are not alone in this ritualistic behavior

Ahh I posted that too before seeing this. A way to control environment. Makes me reflect on my own controlling tendencies. Staying with relatives recently I can’t help but want to help them declutter/ sell stuff.

I do sometimes. Need to clear my desk before work and sometimes I hyperfocus on cleaning and use it to procrastinate.
What a busy life you have too - What you describe sounds like you get some dopamine from being able to control something in your environment. God knows kids and work are pretty chaotic and largely uncontrollable.
Good idea with the psychiatrist to differentiate ocd or anxiety.
The past few days I’ve cleaning the garden. I get obsessed and can lose hours weeding, pruning, and raking. Then I ask myself why not just hire a guy with proper tools to get it done in an hour.
