Just be sure to not overly use them! Getting into credit card debt is comparable to drowning at the beach. You feel safe cause you’re close to the shore but inch by inch, dollar by dollar you’re being dragged away into the depths of debt by the tide. Be careful young bull! Congrats on getting your credit up!
Thank you! I’ve had my starter credit card for a while but I didn’t utilize it much. I do tend to use it on gas and flights but it doesn’t give me any benefits, hence why I’m in the market for something with actual value. Thanks for the tip! Completely agree Credit cards can be a negative when not used properly.
My choice would be to check out Capital One, because they offer a number of credit cards with different options all with no annual fees.
Citicards has aggressive advances but for me…. Credit cards are the devil.
I’ve never heard of using it as a debit card before- what would be the point of the credit card if you have that much in debit anyways?
Capital one Venture card probably the best. A lot of cards to get the extra points along with this one require you to book through them and a lot of times it’s a lot more expensive so it doesn’t make sense. IE spend 500 more on a hotel to earn 50 dollars of rewards. However Capital one also lets you earn extra rewards off of many different discount travel sites so you can get the good deals and still earn points. Rental cars are a good price trough capital one. Just got a 2024 Jeep Renegade for 300 for 8 days in Vegas a month ago. Now one thing is about credit cards is it’s never beneficial to carry a balance just to earn points. Pay it at the end of the month in full. I’ve seen more people say I’m going to get xyz card for extra discounts and points and always pay it just to max it out and are paying 300 in interest a month to of earned 100 dollars in rewards. So here is a trick to stay disciplined. Say you have a kohls credit card. You get massive savings and deals if you charge your purchase. Go get 700 dollars of clothes discounted to 314 dollars. Pay for it with the credit card. IMMEDIATELY walk over to the customer service desk with receipt in hand and say I would like to make a $314 dollar payment to my credit card please. Most retail cards you can pay in store so do it on your way out.
Very smart!!!
I love my C1 Venture X. 2x on everything and I think the welcome bonus is 75k. I’ve got 6 cards rn and it’s my everyday card.
Overall, CC optimization depends on your spending habits and travel habits. But to hit all heads, the C1 Venture X is amazing. The card also offers a list of good credits to redeem like free TSA pre check and an annual travel credit when you book in the C1 portal.
AF is $395 I believe but after considering credits and everything, your effective AF is way less.
PM for more guidance. Happy to help!
I have the Amex bluecash everyday, and I think it’s a very good card, but I think it’s better to pair that card with another one because you mostly get cash back from gas and buying clothes online “I got the Amex gold too since I like to eat a lot outside and I get points for that”
I got the bluecash first, and then like 5 months later I got the gold! Also another good thing about the blue cash is that they offer like 15 months with no interest so that way you don’t have to worry too much if you didn’t make a full balance payment on time
Chase sapphire preferred and reserve cards are the best for travel and dining rewards - as well as travel protection, and they have no international or currency exchange fees. Preferred if you spend less and reserve if you spend more (higher fee but higher point accumulation). But if you want just one card to use for everything I like the Citi double cash. No fee, no gimmicks, just 2% cash back on every purchase.
I prefer the Amex Hilton card. If you like the Hilton family of hotels you can’t beat the points for stays and purchases! I get free nights and upgrades all the time as a Diamond club member. Just using it to pay my regular bills each month practically gives me a free nights stay every two months.
The Capital One Quiksilver is my everyday. 1.5% cash back, no foreign transaction fees, directly linked to my banking app. Add the Capital One Shopping extension to your browser for extra deals.
Hey! I love my Capital One Quicksilver card and I think you will too! You could earn unlimited rewards on every purchase with a card that fits your lifestyle. I can get a bonus if you apply through my referral link: https://i.capitalone.com/JiR7rZ192

Traveling, groceries, restaurants. Sounds like the Amex gold is perfect for you. Yes there’s an annual fee but you earn a lot of points in those categories. Can then use the points wisely for travel
Chase freedom is the best no fee credit card. Points can be redeemed for cash or to their many travel partners
I have Amex blue card and only thing to be wary of is what qualifies as groceries- if you do shopping at big box stores like Walmart or target, won't get the elevated rewards, so just double check what qualifies before you get it
If you spend enough or have assets financed through a bank they will roll out the red carpet for you.
JP Morgan Reserve card, 3x travel, 3x dining, Chase ultimate rewards for hotel and airfare. Ironically I do all my banking through my competitor.
Since you travel internationally make sure to get a card that has free foreign exchange. When you convert via atm or ask to be billed in USD when abroad there are hidden fees you are paying. Having a credit card with free F/X and asking vendors to charge you local currency you will save lots of money. I suggest a points based card that can be used for travel or converted to cash. Avoid mileage plans unless you fly premium.
Amex Gold
I use chase freedom. I pay everything with it and pay off at the end of the month. Points add up and no annual fee.
I’ve been looking at that one too. I saw a few months ago they had an amazing new card member offer— unlimited cash back. Hate that I missed it!
My partner got into credit card point travel hacking last year, and in the past 12-ish months we’ve taken 3 major trips essentially for free by using points and other incentives. Check out Reddit / Facebook for travel hacking…they have great summaries and comparisons.
If you had a credit cards debt would you take out your investments to clear it to avoid paying the interest if the interest per month is more than the short term investment gains?
have you consider the tax implications on a short term investment.
