For those of you leading remote teams, how have you adjusted your style to fit that environment?

I’ve adjust it for remote vs in the office, as well as for particular employees (regardless of their location).

I try to set up times for my team to be able to zoom with me and ask any questions they have about their current projects. Since we aren't in an office space where they can easily come into my office to ask a question it's important for me to try and make myself as accessible as possible to answer any questions they have.

I don't really like it, but I've had to learn to be less spontaneous about how I address issues. It used to be that people could just walk into my office and have a quick chat about what they need but now everything needs to be scheduled and rescheduled fifty times and it's exhausting to constantly have to plan things out like this.

Optional standing “office hours” in teams. Usage if trackers for task progress and assignments. Review trackers for feedback. Out of office teams calendar view for team members. Standing leadership internal updates.

Worked with an agent on my first deal, great. Second deal now and I’m getting my license myself. I’d like to use her as a backboard for ideas and don’t mind giving her a “finders fee” or something but would like to capture the commissions myself. What would be the normal way to have this convo?

Not even sure if I should ask for accommodations to continue being able to wfh at least most days of the week to reduce risk. Idkkkk 😩This is so unprecedented. I always wear my mask at work. Can anyone give insight to what the day to day looks like for a workforce analyst and what skills would make them successful?

(Backstory) I was interviewing for an HR Business Analyst role with a company, I didn’t get the job but they referred me to a “Strategic Workforce planning Analyst” role they have open bc it would be a better fit. I’m an HR Analyst and have been working with HR metrics for a few years, but I’m not entirely sure what that transition would look like.

After years of hard work, I just got my first position in a leadership role! Yay! I’ll be leading a team of 12.
I wanted to know if you had any tips for me, things you wish you knew before, or things previous leaders did for/to you that you found admirable or stayed with you. I want to make sure I’m there for them and want to be a leader they will remember positively.

Thank you so much!!

"Everybody can be a leader" some say... "Leaders are nurtured not born" say others... True.

But... this is also true: "not everybody wants to be a leader" (whether they can or can't be). It is a fairly common practice in organizations with traditional career management structures for people to "be promoted" into leadership roles as the "end steps of the corporate ladder" that was climbed doing technical work. And, unfortunately, this doesn't work all the time

Our annual reviews are approaching & one of my direct reports has been with us for almost six years w/ little growth. My reco was to let him go & find a stronger, hungrier & more motivated designer at the same level. However, my boss instead wants us to promote him in hopes that will spark some motivation. I am not behind this decision & have voiced my multitude of concerns in promoting an employee who doesn't deserve it. HR is behind the decision! Thoughts on promoting an undeserving report?

What is your job title? As it right now I’m managing a team of product owners and I’m unofficially being called “Chief Product Owner.” I’m in the process of working with a coach to get my resume updated so I can begin applying for external roles. But I don’t even know what job titles to target.
