I have a couple of questions for ZS fishes-
1. Is it possible to turn down a promotion at ZS? I'm currently happy with my responsibilities as a Decision Analytics Consultant and don't want any added responsibilities in the near future (next 5 years)
2. Is it possible to shape up a career path in the BC stream which doesn't involve business development? I don't want to get into working on SOWs and RFPs.

Does anyone have any insight into accounting roles at Amazon, particularly in the Arlington/DC area? An Amazon recruiter reached out about accounting roles, but the posts in this bowl are about Seattle. Trying to decide if the culture/wlb/pay is even worth looking into since it sounds like the interview process is intense. Base pay seemed pretty low in other posts, but they were a year old and for Seattle.

If you’re interested in advisory, DM me. A lot of the learning is on the job - with the odd platform learning. It’s the easiest way to get your foot in the door to FP&A.

Yes, self learning those skills is highly recommended.
There are many free resources to learn.
I was in the same situation a couple of years ago and learned those skills plus financial modeling on my own.
I did the switch and it’s very possible. It’s just that your excel/modelling skills need to be pretty good to be successful in FP&A.
I personally didn’t enjoy being in FP&A so I boomeranged.
There are some FP&A roles that are more strategic rather than repetitive like that. I would say read the job descriptions carefully, ask % of “ad hoc” work versus recurring, and generally smaller companies will have more of that versus larger ones with strategic finance being its own team
