“Tone policing is defined as "a conversational tactic that dismisses the ideas being communicated when they are perceived to be delivered in an angry, frustrated, sad, fearful, or otherwise emotionally charged manner." Managers striving to create a workplace based on equity and inclusion must understand how tone policing silences members of marginalized groups and allows discrimination to persist.” https://www-businessinsider-com.cdn.ampproject.org/c/s/www.businessinsider.com/how-to-identify-and-help-stop-tone-policing-in-workplace-2020-8?amp

It will likely stay unless Elon Musk is your big client. I cannot believe we are questioning whether diversity is a good thing. Amazing how times have changed.
And where did I say that lol
So I don't think lgbtq folks will be fired for being so. But there will be less emphasis in the naturally bigoted firms to show they're hiring those folks. For racial diversity, it has mostly just been lip service, if you look at the disparity between associates of color and partners.
But for women, I think it will stay. Many firms took deliberate efforts to combat sex based discrimination at the partner levels like a decade or two ago, and those have largely stuck. I don't expect those to really go away. Everyone other than white women, buckle up.
It’s not even really thinly veiled anymore. Many of my friends are rushing to get married. People are scared.
Clients are still very focused on this so I don't see it going anywhere

That's about to change.

I think DEI initiatives will stick around - but will look different than they have over the past several years. I agree with other posters here, I have seen DEI become far more inclusive than just the color of your skin. And I think it's a good thing to recognize that diversity extends beyond that.
Interested.

I imagine there be less overt initiatives in terms of jobs and training but I don't see why their can't still be some initiatives within different affinity groups that may or may not include others
Probably gives firms cover to spend less money on it, even if they maintain the existence of the programs and market them.

Curious what happens with the Mansfield Rule, especially. Those who say all of this was lip service aren’t aware of what the impact has been at some firms.

Mansfield has already changed in a way that’s lost its teeth.
