So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

That’s a tough one because you are hired at will and can be let go as well at will for whatever reason. It’s been two years, you’re happy to be outta that toxic environment. Let it go. Legal pursuits are costly and time consuming .
You are currently having a covfefe
It’s OK
... gossipy people who didn’t like me cause I didn’t get along with the popular kids, and this feeling went all the way through management. Happy to leave.
Just learned that they never lost that client after all - HR and my CCO lied to me. This was like 2 years ago. Is the lie about why I was let go worth pursuing now? Their reasoning for letting me go was obviously false, and there may have been a discriminatory motivation behind it. Could I legally call bullshit and get money for the time I was unemployed or something?
Art director 1 has a point. Legal battles are expensive and an agency has a lot more money and lawyers than you do. Plus, if they play dirty, they can easily fabricate data to fit their narrative. This is not a battle id bet on you to win, and it has nothing to do with if youre right or wrong.
@AD2 There were rumours around the office before I left, so when I was told I took it for granted. Unlike what people above are suggesting I didn’t focus on the agency after I left, I moved on, so I didn’t follow news about client wins/losses and they’re not a huge agency either. I just came across a press release the other week that listed that client for them.
I should’ve mentioned also that I’m in Canada and we don’t have at will employment here, it works s little differently. If they let me go they have to provide s reason and who weeks severance, and the reason can’t be discriminatory. I don’t know what lying about the reason amounts to. Also a friend of mine from that agency recently used a lawyer after getting let go and got extra severance money because of a misspelling on the contract ("and" instead of "or" or something like that). The agency just settled.
For your mental health let it go. A lawsuit is draining. If you want to tell them how you feel which is the main goal I believe write them a note with facts and say you are disappointed and hurt and would like explanations.
How did you go 2 years without realizing they still had the client? I’m not asking to hurt you, I’m genuinely wondering. Loss of business is so public in this industry, I’m wondering how it got that far.
You can talk to a lawyer, especially if you think it was discrimination that put you out the door... consulting with a lawyer to see if you have a case isn’t that expensive.
The real question is what is your end goal? Will you be ok if you lose? Will your reputation be affected? Do you want a payment? Do you want a written apology?
I think the end goal really matters.
You’d have to have proof of the lie and proof of the truth. If you don’t, it’s probably not worth pursuing
You need to move on. It’s the saying about letting your old agency live inside your head rent free. In two years you could have spent your time doing something to show them that they were creatively wrong to get rid of you.
No lawyers! Just call them out on the bowl! That’ll get ‘em #dogpyle
It’s simply an excuse. They were trying to be nice. They should have been honest. It was performance based
Perhaps they did lose that client, but won them back later.
I’ve always wondered about suing over harassment, discrimination, etc. You’re basically blackballed for life. Completely understand why more people don’t come forward .
