When someone tells me bad news regarding their health, I say everything I am supposed to say (I’m sorry to hear that, I’m here for you, etc) EXCEPT “everything is going to be ok”. Because I can’t guarantee that and I really don’t know if everything is going to be ok. I was taken aback recently when a friend told me I am calloused and cold-hearted for not being able to say those words. Is she right? Should I start saying this for the purposes of providing comfort only??

I find it really hard to eat healthy when I'm on site...especially when the majority of my lunches are quick ones spent at the desk. How do you handle eating well when there's no time to think about anything but work during the day??

My mom is mid-50s and has started having what appear to be mini blackouts. Her face contorts like she is laughing or crying, and she is unresponsive for 5-10 seconds. When we ask her what is wrong, she has no idea what we are talking about and no memory of the event.

Outside counsel has been prepping company witnesses for a trial in August. It is my subject area so I am supervising outside counsel. I did not, however, choose the counsel. He is doing a really awful job. Co counsel is better, but not great either. Higher ups love the firm… I do not want to micromanage, but I have genuine concerns about outside counsel’s ability to try this case. I started a new job recently and then had my PTSD seriously triggered, plus a panic attack. Felt so on edge and low on emotional resources for over a week that I wasn’t myself and apparently really rubbed a few people the wrong way so I was called in for a talking to 😣. I let people know there were some personal things going on, but didn’t mention the PTSD—very unsure if that’s something to share, or if I’d be judged for it or... I don’t even know. Has anyone else dealt with PTSD and had it impact them at work, and how did you handle it?

I’ve gotten to the final stage in interview process at 5 places now to be told no. First and second interviews at a bunch of other places too. Starting to really feel drained. So much work for nothing
