Have you made any close friends at work while working in IB? I can’t really say I have. Largely due to trust issues.

What are you all reading other than maternity help books? Any book recommendations for after baby is born? Mainly around how to keep the baby safe from injuries and incidents.

I feel like I lost most of my friends over the last couple of years. Everyone’s doing their own thing and now I see my closest friends a handful of times each year. Can anyone else relate?

Poll on general attitudes towards open relationships? I’m in one and find that some folks are totally non-judgmental about it, while others are so vicious/rude about it. Curious about your opinions! I understand that every open relationship is different, and each couple defines their own arrangement/rules. My fiance is working on Axis bank in west bengal. I live in Bangalore. Our marriage is on December end. she will be shifting to Bangalore on January and has sent am email for transfer to Bangalore few times back. BUT not getting any positive response and even no one is replying to her emai.

my sister died this morning. I posted about her in a past post. Alcohol addiction, liver failure and then it taxed the kidneys too much, she went into cardiac arrest at 9 am and they could not save her. She was 51. Sad day for sure. Feels odd that she is no longer here. I just wish she could have had a better future.

As a divorcee with a kid, i find it extremely hard to find friends who can relate, or even making friends as it seems there’s a stigma attached to you because your relationship didn’t work out.

I cheated... we aren’t supposed to do real art in the morning. We watch an art video and discuss in the morning, then in the afternoon we post an instructional video and the kids do a small project at home... I cheated yesterday. Equity research associate considering to pivot into IBD. Is this a wise choice? Heard ER is an exit for some of the IB folks out there.

Interesting all the noise about these PPT, my take:

The pandemic took all the upside of an IB analyst life (client meetings in person, fancy trips, suit up, worshiped at networking events) and left all the juniors with the downside (long hours, monkey-like type of job, aggressive work environment).

Not that the complaints are not sort of legitimate but you may need to revise the decision-making process that led you to accept a return offer. Specially if you were looking for less hours.

I can really use some direction. My background, I've worked 2 years in strategy and am currently coming off an exhausting year 2 in investment banking. I didn't particularly enjoy either role and am not interested in moving over to the buy-side or some monotonous FP&A role. Everybody says there's exit-ops aplenty, but I find myself with less options and even more picky than I did as an ambitious T2 undergrad student. Where do I go from here?

I just received an offer to lateral into banking. How does independence affect the stocks I currently own? If I join and my stocks are on a restricted list will I have to sell them? Or will I be limited to being unable to buy more/sell any during the course of my employment.

Asking for wife who's also in banking. If she got ~$100k in signing bonus in 2019 for 1 year commitment in CA and started FT in July 2020, assuming she leaves before July 2021, can her employer claw back full amount in California? Some say it's much tougher to do so under CA law but wonder if anyone has any insights. Banks won't likely care about analyst signing bonuses, but associate bonus at EB with diversity bonus can be significant. If she quits before, she won't be going to another bank.

Has anyone who lateraled for an experienced IB role gotten moving expenses reimbursed? If so, how much was it? Thanks
