Has there been feedback provided up to this point?
If you’re serious about keeping this role, I’d ask for 15 minutes of your bosses time and ask:
1. What does success in my role look like to you?
2. Where am I falling short & how can I fix it, quick?
3. What is the biggest gap you see right now, so I can address and fix that first
4. Is there someone on the team that can coach me to be where I need to?
5. Where else do you see I have gaps, in order to alleviate the need for a PIP?
I’d start the conversation with “hey ‘boss name’ I was surprised by our last conversation regarding a PIP, and want to get aligned so I’m set up for success to properly understand and meet your expectations”
Or you might find some other good questions from ChatGPT, but my advice is get very serious very fast if you want to keep the role. Once you’re on a PIP it’s a fast track to building an exit case.
Agree... at the same time, if the manager is lazy and doesn't provide feedback, then it sounds like they're just going to get rid of OP anyways :(
Hi,
I might have someone in my network that might be interested in your background and experience,
Would you love an introduction
Hi! I’m interested. How can we connect?
I remember switching from remote to onsite and it felt like a big adjustment. It took time to settle. I would give it a bit longer before deciding if it is the role or the change.
And same i will.
