Update to everyone - I passed the test !!

Congrats to you too!

I passed the SHRM-CP last year! I bought the SHRM learning system & took Victoria’s boot camp which was very helpful. Victoria’s boot camp broke everything that would be on the test down. The learning system was good for practice on the situational questions!

Super excited for you. The best advice I can give is that the test is heavy on how you use your knowledge to make good choices in situations. Focus on the "why" behind policies/laws/ect and not just the facts and dates.

like

Following. I’m scheduled to test on 02/12

I earned my pass for the SHRM-CP this past Friday. The test wasnt hard but it’s harder than the PHR (Sept 2020). Its more than you just having the knowledge of HR it also focuses on your ability to apply said knowledge. The exam is 60% knowledge and 40% situational judgement. The situation judgment questions were tricky 😩. Take as many practice test, if you can, to get a feel on how the questions are presented.

Have anyone done contracting negotiations before? I've interviewed for co A & B and co A extended an offer today. The offer does not meet my current salary. Co B's interview structure is 3 rounds and I've finished my 2nd round today. The recruiter mentioned that since I am a contractor my current salary is incomparable as they will provide benefits, etc. Is this true? I have 2 yrs of contracting HR exp from fortunate 500 co’s & OMW to get my SHRM-CP. Appreciate your advice in advance.

Has anyone seen or discussed this Petition for SHRM must support Black Lives Matter & the LGBTQ community? I’ve grown increasingly concerned and disappointed in SHRM’s lack of vocal support for employment protections for LGBTQ+ and black and brown workers, especially as a black woman in HR. It seems like SHRM is overly focused on what is absolutely “legal” and not what is right. I’m of the opinion HR professionals must not only be “legal” but have a relevant and compassionate stance

Am I crazy that this is pretty limited time off? 8 of the normal holidays off during the year (working the week between Christmas and NYE). Thoughts?
