Don’t have any certifications and don’t plan on getting any. I don’t think they really help.

SPHR. On those job descriptions where it says “preferred,” you’re able to negotiate for higher comp. I think it’s more beneficial early in your career when may have limited experience, the certification validates your knowledge.
Thanks for your feedback.
I first got my phr when I first started hr (About 2 years in)….then as I grew to manager level I got my SPHR. I did it for personal achievement, more for my own confidence boost. I don’t know if either really made a difference (been with the same company for 15+ years).
Thanks for your feedback.
I have my PHR and the most helpful thing it’s done for me is act as a signal to people who are unfamiliar with HR. They see it and can trust that I know my stuff, even if they have no idea what I actually do day to day. Very worth it IMO, especially if your company can reimburse you for study materials or exam fees!
Thanks for your feedback. I'm writing for a temp agency now, so I'll just have to invest in myself. Luckily, I'm worth it. Haha
Having held both the PHR and SHRM-CP, I can say the true value of both has more to do with identifying your strengths and weaknesses for personal development than they do in actually securing better compensation in the workplace.
Totally! It definitely added more value to my role and my resume in general. It's an added edge and another reason for my company to pay me higher and better.
I have SHRM. Honestly, in my previous company, it was not really helpful. But now, it helped me with my promotion.
