How hard was it to move on from a company that you have been at for over 4 years?
Im in the process of switching jobs and I’m feeling so sad. I will miss my current work place and the people but I know it was time to move on. Any tips?

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

1. I enjoy the people management more than individual contributor stuff. What career paths do you see in our industry for people who are managing support engineering teams?
2. What certifications are valued today? Seems like being a AWS Cloud Practitioner is a good general one, but are there others that stand out?

Looking for honest opinions: would you trust career advice from someone who doesn’t necessarily have a background in career coaching but has always been “that friend” that everyone calls for career advice, resumes, salary negotiations etc?

I’m a designer in the planning/landscape architecture dept. of a CE firm. Extremely frustrated that after 4+ years and multiple asks, I’m not getting the in-field construction experience I’ve asked for. I know that my designs could be better if I could see how things are actually built but I get slapped in the face with “I need you in the office designing/drafting” or “there’s no budget to have you go out” and then sends an intern to inspect instead. Are most companies paying for you to learn new skills? When acquiring new skills are you mostly self taught? What are your best go to sites for learning animation or video skills? Trying to gauge the norm on expectations for new hires who need to know everything from print, web, video, social and animation. Can you do it all?

I am currently finishing up CFP course work. Does anyone have tips or tricks for studying for the actual exam? I am particularly concerned about the investment planning section. I have 12 plus years in the industry and CRPC. I do planning literally everyday but a test is a test and this is the module I have had the most trouble with.

I can’t get out. I’m a barred attorney looking to move into a JD preferred role. I don’t like being at a firm. I’ve applied to hundreds (literally) of contract, compliance, regulatory, etc. sort of jobs. I’m not looking for a crazy salary either. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. How do I make the switch? Im having 9.5yoe in java backend development( technical lead) and have not worked in devops till now. But recently i have started with a PG course in devops.
I am very much interested to move to devops. What kind of roles i can give interview for and what and all paths i can take forward.

I’m a new CSM (9 months) and I work at a company that doesn’t invest much in its CSM team. I’ve been struggling because as time goes on I feel more and more like a token hire. We have no play book/structure, no CSM tool and I’m current organizing all 95 of my clients on spreadsheets while also handling presales trials with a salary under 50k.

Does anyone like ID work? Currently doing work at a PI/Medmal plaintiffs firm while in school and trying to figure out where I’ll be happiest post-grad. I LOVE it, but don’t know if ID will provide more security. For context, I had a, albeit, short career prior to law school and will 30 when I graduate in May. Comp and WLB are important given my later start.

I received a job offer from a PI firm (MVA and tractor trailer cases) in Houston, Texas; the bonus proposed was 2.5% of attorney’s fees for any cases settled each quarter. We are assigned 50 cases a quarter and the top attorney clears $25K each quarter. This is my first time working at a PI firm. Can anyone share any guidance? Is 2.5% industry standard? Is it realistic to settle/resolve that many cases? I am trying to learn more about this niche before I counter-offer and attempt to negotiate.

Hello all, I'm a very green attorney, never tried a single case or even was second or third chair, but managed to land a litigation associate position at a Plaintiff's firm. Does anyone remember their first trial? How did you feel and how did it turn out by comparison? Anything you wish you did differently?
I know in THEORY what the process of trials are but thanks to COVID I haven't been able to observe them in real life so I'm very nervous for the day I finally enter a courtroom.

I know this is a broad question but how much should a 3 year PI attorney going into their 4th year make approx. I’m in Chicago, a range is fine too.

What's your preference for plaintiff's side? Steady pay at approximately $120k with no bonuses, or a base salary of $70k plus a cut of what you close over a minimum threashold? Midwest-ish market. In both situations, you get a cut of what you bring in.

How does your comp structure work? Curious to see how my set up compares. PI side. Get a % on the fee that comes into the firm on cases I settle.

I am a personal injury defense attorney and I’ve never done plaintiff’s work. I have a case where I suspect the plaintiff is malingering and exaggerating his injuries. The plaintiffs attorney has sent me multiple demands for $3 million dollars and basically begged me to respond with some offer. I’ve told him the truth - my client has no interest in trying to settle if his demand remains about twenty times higher than the actual worst case (for us) jury verdict. More in comments...

Ethics Q: my client created fruaduant medical documents in order to try to recover extra benefits from her injury. My thought is to settle her case with insurance company for whatever nominal amount is offered ASAP. However, this might be lower than her case is actually worth despite the the fruad. I would rather end representation as soon as possible. Thoughts? California ethics apply.

How long does it take for an insurance adjuster to review a demand letter and contact with an offer? Fault is not contested in this case. I sent the demand and records 3 weeks ago. They contacted me after I sent it to confirm they received it.
