I am in ID. Although the firm I’m with is not too bad, the billing aspect is draining the life out of me. I don’t see a long term. There is an opportunity for claims counsel position with a carrier. Is claims counsel position a dead end job? Is there growth? How does it compared to associate counsel roles with companies like Lyft? By the way, why do I always see Lyft position again and again on LinkedIn? Is it real job posting?

Claims counsel offers some WLB, but I don’t think it’s really a path to true in-house work.

Unfortunately, I think so.

I’d wait for a litigation position to open up or something that isn’t claims counsel in insurance. I think insurance is likely to be the easiest but also claims is rough.

Maybe it’s worth applying to Lyft? Specially if your ID experience is in MVA.

Mostly that exit options are limited/you’re likely to be pigeonholed and not gain much experience outside of that. I’ve had friends in ID go into litigation roles after becoming partners or go into a big client they worked with a lot (but were mostly in med mal or professional malpractice ID).

I asked for a raise in April 2022 after three years with my company. Positive feedback since day one. Learned I was making less than peers at other asset managers in NYC with less experience (14 years). Latest conversation was with HR about how they calculate salaries. I’ve been asked to provide examples how my role has changed since I started to justify the increase. Is this normal? Or is this just their way of denying my request?

Any advice on a first year trying to transition from family law to in-house? I always thought family law was my path, and used to enjoy it, but it’s not the direction I want to head in anymore. I don’t think I even want to continue with any litigation work. I’m having a hard time finding firms that are hiring entry level associate positions that don’t require at least 3+ years experience in-house. Should I start at a business law firm to get experience working with corporations first?

Anyone have any idea when the hiring freeze might end within AWS ProServ? I’m currently at Amazon and have a TS clearance, PMP & CSM. I come from a Big4 consulting firm with a background in Enterprise Performance. I’ll be honest and say I’m not feeling very safe in my current role with the ongoing layoffs. Instead of leaving, I’d love to go back to my “consulting roots” and join the ProServ team. I’m taking my AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam next weekend. Hoping this freeze is lifted soon.

Hi Folks,

I've got a job offer from a small IT company. But before releasing the offer letter, they want me to accept a terms and conditions form which has this 10th point as shown in picture. It states failing to join them will result in paying 2 months of salary that's around 130000 rs.

Is it for real? If I get a better offer somewhere else ane don't join them, will I really have to pay this to them? Please help friends. What should I do?

Down as well - also, isn't the whole point of the bowl to not have to coordinate emails and all that? Easier to do it on here no?

You’re either not valuable to your company and/or your job isnt that important if you’re able to take PTO and not at least send some e-mails.

NFW- I just had a good laugh. What law firm is your favorite for run of the mill employment issues in the US and internationally (India, Australia, UK, Germany, etc.).
